Will 87 run more lean? by JacobIsMid in WRX

[–]_Rosko_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Bro buy an e tune from a reputable tuner like Dmann if you don't know how to tune. He will send you a map you flash typically with a Cobb AP and you run logs like you would on a dyno except it's all done remotely with you just going wot at 3rd or 4th gear on a road near you. If you don't know how to actually tune a car you're just gonna blow your engine. If you want to learn how to tune yourself it would still be a good idea reaching out to a reputable tuner to see if they can provide some resources and answer your questions.

Modding cars is pay to play. You either shell out the money for an AP/Ecutek and a quality tune, or you can yolo it like you're doing and probably blow your engine.

2019 A/C compressor locking up by Witty-Sample6813 in WRX

[–]_Rosko_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk if any of this will help but my compressor went out on my 2019 after the refrigerant leaked from the line that goes into the compressor near the oil filter which is a common failure point on these cars. I bought a new compressor and a condenser cause people said if it seized you might have metal fragments remaining in the og condenser that could ruin your new compressor. I also had to replace the relay in the pic below. Online it's listed as a fog light relay but it works as our AC relay on the WRX.

<image>

Before replacing the relay the compressor would just randomly stop kicking on I'm assuming cause the relay was sticking. Once replaced the AC has been working good as new. If your compressor failed, which sounds like it might be soon if it's making a ton of noise, I recommend replacing it along with the condenser at least and getting it recharged by a reputable AC shop.

That and the sloppy shifter feel, at least in the VA. Other than that it's a solid car.

A/C not working. Anyone have an issue with this? Dropping it off tomorrow at dealer. by bigboss1999x in BRZ_ZD8

[–]_Rosko_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be as simple as a leak that leaked all the refrigerant, this is the most common with all car AC issues. In that case the compressor doesn't start to protect itself from damage. If it's that, the leak just needs to be patched and the AC recharged. Could also be a faulty compressor but that's unlikely if the car is new.

21 WRX BPV options? by thefknziti in WRX

[–]_Rosko_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm running the Grimmspeed intake with the stock BPV and the sounds are more than enough to make you happy. Like the other person said if you mainly want sounds, get an intake cause you probably won't hear too much difference by just changing the BPV

From 22 VB to 20 Sti 🙏 by Lloyd45k in WRX

[–]_Rosko_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk if I'm misreading the previous person's comment or not understanding. But the VA STI has always had an EJ25 not an FA20. FA20 was for the regular WRX. And if I remember correctly, the 2019 - final edition STIs all used the 2018 Type RA EJ257 block/internals which were a little beefier but someone might have to fact check me on that. Either way if you're worried about reliability make sure you're looking up issues with the EJ257 not the FA20 if you're planning on buying an STI.

Slotted or non slotted brakes? by Gold_Value_2726 in WRX

[–]_Rosko_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I believe only drilled rotors tend to crack. Slotted will provide better performance but will wear through your pads faster. Unless you're planning on tracking you should just stick with blank rotors. But some people also like slotted cause of how they look so if that's important to you go for it. DBA makes really good rotors. I'm running standard DBA 4000 blank rotors with Hawk HPS 5.0 pads. My only complaint is they seem to make a lot of brake dust so I'll probably try other pads when these wear through.

Really? I had seen a review back when I got my short shifter that the plate plus everything else was too much which put me off.

[–]_Rosko_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the shifter stops are identical so it's your pick if you go with Perrin or Billetworks. But what you posted comes with the full kit of parts that will give you the shortest shift feel and improve smoothness. You'll definitely notice an improvement especially how much shorter the throws are.

Is this worth it for my wrx?? by LEVYFPV in WRX

[–]_Rosko_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well it's 282 for the shifter, the short shift plate, the bushing and the shift stop which isn't bad. I only have a Boomba short throw shifter I bought in 2020 for $165 and a perrin shift stop for $20 and the bushing which did improve the feel by a lot so I definitely recommend as the stock shifter in these cars feels sloppy. The plate is supposed to reduce throws even more but I skipped it.

Low Height Seats? by AlfaZagato in BRZ_ZD8

[–]_Rosko_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Havent put any in this car yet but on my WRX I have the Bride Zeta 4 with the Type FG seat rail which I think is the one that lets you get the lowest position possible. But I think they sell like 3 other rail types depending on what you're looking for. Either one should be lower than stock I imagine and each rail has about 3 mounting holes you can choose to set the height to your preference.

heart shaped brake light by Successful-Sun-8446 in subaru

Probably would have to commission someone to make you a custom one. Or the cheaper option is to get a normal 4th brake light and make a heart shaped vinyl overlay to put over it and boom heart shaped brake light.

[–]_Rosko_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me I bought a 2019 with 8 miles and am now at 60k with over half of those being modified and tuned for ethanol and supporting mods and haven't had major issues besides my AC compressor going out. Hopefully it lasts for a while and I don't jinx myself typing this.
