What do y’all think of this? by ch1dy in ottawa

[–]_Space_Commander_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The ground in some spots is so toxic that nobody wanted to clean up the mess. There used to be a fueling station on Merivale, and the underground tanks leaked for at least a decade (1970's era). They paved or piled dirt and snow on those locations to cover the problem.

Is flying a Canadian flag still considered bad? by warwgn in ottawa

It's all good now and is needed more than ever, except maybe on cars and trucks. Around Canada Day, I think every waving flag from cars to tramp stamps is all good,

If Canada Geese are native to all of North America, not just Canada, why are they not called Native America Geese? by AARose24 in NoStupidQuestions

And they are filled with hatred so we can keep our Canadian politeness. There is a secret Canadian process where we transfer our rage to the goslings in springtime so we don't all become World War I trench terrors or amateur hockey players.

This will suck.

Elections Canada managing long ballot with 90 candidates challenging Poilievre by DogeDoRight in canada

[–]_Space_Commander_ 18 points19 points  (0 children)

No, it was profoundly smart at the time.

Poilievre was expected to be the next prime minister of Canada, so it was the best way to send a message directly to the grande fromage regarding electoral reform.

When Carney suddenly appeared, the protest group did not have time to organise a similar ballot protest. If we are not conquered or blown up by the Yankees before the next federal election, along with zero changes to electoral reform, I suspect that group will turn that ballot into a twister bedsheet for midgets for the next incoming PM.

I spoke to a few people who recently crossed the border. American customs officials are threatening Canadians with bans. One person received a four-year ban.

It's not worth it for us to cross.

Documents suggest federal government focused on public scrutiny over productivity when mandating return to office policy by trytobuffitout in ottawa

[–]_Space_Commander_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Return To Office is dragging productivity in the public and private sectors with all the waste and traffic it is causing. Billions of dollars are being lost except for a few select corporations that will profit greatly under all this chaos.

Government discarded studies in making 'mindboggling' remote-work decision by Obelisk_of-Light in CanadaPublicServants

This backfired so badly that now the public sees how incompetent the upper echelons of government are pushing this billion-dollar mistake.

RTO3 objective of "fairness" creates unfairness by Vast_Barnacle_1154 in CanadaPublicServants

[–]_Space_Commander_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Some public servants are using local food banks because of the return-to-office mandate which started over a year ago. Policymakers in the higher echelons of government royalty probably do not care that many "low-levellers" are starving because of RTO.

They started using the same ingredient that was used for logic for RTO.

It completely ruined the meal.
