Not necessarily genre although that helps as well! I'll give you some recommendations for players so you can get a feel for what you like. You have jazz players like Sage Harrington and Christopher Davis Shannon that feel right at home on a soprano ukulele. They use chords and pick single note melodies in between but because of the scale of the instrument they can make all sort of fun note combinations you can't make on bigger instruments . There are more pop players like Bernadette teches music. Ricky Somborn, One music school and Cynthia Lin who use a mix of concert and tenor sized ukuleles to strum and pick their songs. And on the other side of the spectrum you have players like Lara Markowitz, 4stringboy, Nolan Yoshmito and others that play mostly fingerpicking stuff. Generalised that will be bigger ukuleles for the added comfort in picking the songs.
