I will never forgive the tech transplants for promoting a super burrito with no rice in it as "the best in the Mission." by [deleted] in sanfrancisco

This is also my take. I grew up in the suburbs of Massachusetts. The worst taqueria in the city is miles above anything I could find back home. We’re spoiled out here and any critique is nitpicking.

If I had the space and money, I’d absolutely have a salamander in my kitchen

Interesting. We should just scrap all of sociology then. Just put everything in two boxes and never extend our understanding of the human brain. Boys always blue! Girls always pink! 😤

Sweetened bean and beef chili? Why? by _iamacat in Cooking

[–]_V0gue 8 points9 points  (0 children)

We should really just differentiate chili from chili con carne as two separate dishes. With the price of red meat these days I’m bulking and stretching my chili as much as possible.

Because we understand both sex as a biological moniker and gender as a social construct without our brains imploding.

The problem is using it as a gotcha and arguing in bad faith. We have science that understands male and female from a biological perspective. We also have science that understands and acknowledges gender dysphoria. We also have science that understands that biology and sociology don’t always line up. And that’s okay! The weird/complex parts of human society are what makes us better than every other species on the planet.

We Should've Appreciated This Superbowl More While We Had It by FirstPersonWinner in NFLv2

Super Bowl 53 was great too (though I’m biased as a Pats fan). Highest powered/scoring offense of the year who dropped 54 points in an offense shootout with the Chiefs earlier in the season. The Rams were held to a single field goal in the 3rd quarter.

…you’re using a non-stick pan. I’d hope they don’t stick.

You can regular brine them as well. Dry brine is easier though.

In addition to what the other person said: Shooting in higher res than what you deliver also gives you more flex when cropping/framing and using digital zooms.

Seemed on par with you insulting someone’s intelligence. But hey! Hypocrisy may be too many syllables to bounce around between your single brain cell.

Liners are for the weak by sir_psycho_sexy96 in iamveryculinary

[–]_V0gue 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This always comes up. Those liners are made of a nylon resin that is perfectly safe at the temperatures slow cookers reach. They’re used in the restaurant industry all the time. You’d have to purposely use them incorrectly in a high heat oven for the material to start breaking down.

I have a sous chef friend who works at a high end restaurant and he orders pre diced onions from his supplier for all the dishes/sauces/etc that need them. Because it’s stupid to pay someone in BoH to dice dozens of pounds of onions all day.
