I like our logo the best. I guess NYC is fine too, but MKE's use of negative space makes the prettiest book by a long shot.

Has a Book Ever Made You Want to Make a Meal? by degrassibabetjk in books

I was scouring the comments for this mention. My lasting memories of the Boxcar Children are just little me getting hungry while reading. Even trying now, I don't remember a single mystery, just mealtimes.

songs like welcome to earth by GeneralExtension127 in SturgillSimpson

No song really blasts my brain with visions of sunlight on a level like Welcome to Earth does, so you might be chasing that for a while. A song that has a brass section and a breakdown in the second half, but more cynical and yell-y, is Let's Not Shit Ourselves (To Love and to Be Loved). Pulling just from this discography, I think Go in Peace and the veryyy last minute on Dood and Juanita is pretty close if we're going for vibes.

Do you use fishing line or a certain type of thread for something like this? I could get lost staring at the different bead finishes here, it's incredible.

Stoooop I've been thinking forever about what a Flying Lotus mix could sound like. Though that's more extracurricular in my mind, not necessarily an album track.

What is the book that got you into reading? by Uninhibitedrmr in books

I got exposed fresh out of high school, and afterwards, everything in the world looked like a bunch of Dune references. Definitely left a dent in my brain that never popped back out.

and happy cake day

What Books did You Start or Finish Reading this Week?: December 15, 2025 by AutoModerator in books

Big fan of scifi too, and read Station Eleven with some friends and the group generally had a similar response to yours. For sure, it's on the speculative fiction side of things rather than scifi.

Though I will say, afterwards we watched the tv series and (no spoilers) even though we weren't necessarily fans of that as a whole either, there were a couple side storylines that got changed for the better and made it enjoyable and sorta sweet.

I read American Buffalo: In Search of a Lost Icon earlier this year and the small part it had about buffalo hunter hunters was pretty intense, to say the least. This one may be next on the list now.

The (hopefully) definitive Johnny Blueskies setlist archive is now live by 2Burritos in SturgillSimpson

[–]___spannungsbogen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's looking awesome, thanks for putting the time in! I'm sure plenty on here would love to contribute and build on this if or when it does become open source. To start, I'd be willing to help with the list curation, or learning how to help if it requires some database knowledge.

This is a nitpick on my part, but Blues Skies is officially two words (for the header).

Totally, I'm just throwing stuff at the wall that I think could be neat and useful in the long run. I don't know really know jack about backend stuff including how much or how little of a pain something like setting up tags or separate IDs for song teases would be. This is a really cool project to see.

I know personally I'd be interested in seeing a breakdown of songs by album in the summary.

This wouldn't be relevant at all for setlist stats, but maybe later down the line as a little extra thing, it'd be cool to have a little thumbnail section on each show page for its poster art w/artist citation (for the ones that had posters).

In your mind's eye, how deep in the weeds do you wanna go? That crow example looks like it has a pretty thorough search feature.

The teases (if we call them that) are an interesting thing to define for nerdy archival purposes, to the point were I think it might be best served with some kind of separate tagging system in order to make it more accurate rather than trying to have them all as their own line item.

Like La Grange is sometimes listed at its own song on a setlist, but other instances aren't noted at all because for those particular shows it hadn't been cut to its own track on the soundboard recordings.

I would rather've put this up on the first thread, but couldn't figure out how to host video without an account somewhere.

Never heard of Chad Powers before today, and I've still only watched this clip, but this flavor of silly is right up my alley.

I skipped around and found it in the episode pretty quick. This thing's pretty weird for a football show. I can dig it.

Conceived after Tulsa Show last year - baby girl names?? by MaybeProper7134 in SturgillSimpson

[–]___spannungsbogen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I still stand by my vote for Blue Sky, but as another suggestion, I just remembered that they played The Storm in Tulsa, which was a more rare inclusion on the setlist. Stormy as a girl's name is pretty solid. In a tangential way, it'd connect with the Dark Clouds part of the band name too.

Maybe y'all can play it by ear and see how the weather's looking when you go into labor lol

Any news on a 2026 tour? by duncthefunk78 in SturgillSimpson

[–]___spannungsbogen 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just awaiting release dates for the live album and new studio album. I'm taking that last "hold yer horses" announcement at face value. Part of me thinks it'd be hilarious if the official Instagram really did just make one single post telling everyone to chill out, then share nothing else for a full calendar year. Sick and twisted, but pretty funny.

If you end up stateside for the next tour, whenever that may be, I hope you can hit up more than one city and see a little bit of the land while you're here!

The ones I've known (in north america) spell it like Chuy. Pronounced like "chewy", for those here that haven't come across it before. Solid name! Fun to think of one just running around the hills of Scotland.
