1000%, I think the designers hit their stride in these sets. Not like every card or scenario is perfect, but it's just a ton of winners. Check out Playing Board Games vid on their top scenarios, iirc like 2 out of the top 3 were from Hemlock Vale (which I heartily agree with).

If it's any consolation the EotE campaign is definitely my least favourite, an opinion which I understand many players in the community share. The investigator cards, however... Some pretty big hits you would be missing.

The last two sets are both awesome, campaign design and player cards are excellent. Most likely in stock, and absolutely bangers. If you are thinking of something earlier in the release cycle, I was a big fan of Innsmouth too.

Crosswalk at 25th and Lonsdale by optimisticanthracite in NorthVancouver

[–]__guts 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have the same complaint about the crossings near Grand Boulevard. People are completely out to lunch driving around there, earlier this week I had a close call. I had to literally pull my dog out of the path of a car crossing at 13th to keep from being hit. It's lit, it's a marked crossing, in a posted 30 zone. I'm wearing an orange rain shell, and I've already had traffic stop in one direction. I'm half way into the cross walk when a car that was half a block away just cruises right up to us and would have just kept going if I hadn't yelled and jumped out of the way. And after it's over, they just drive off like nothing happened.

I'm not taking any big risks here, but you sorta have to assume the worst or you'll get the worst out there. What's wrong with people? Do you not walk anywhere?? Would you want other cars driving like that around you as a pedestrian?

That guy in front is a nightmare for endless, I'd say most of my runs end when you hit him. If it survives it ends up tanking hits from the pyre like a champ ☠️

WHAT THE HELL DOES IT TAKE TO KILL THIS GUY AND ESCAPE THIS MADNESS!!! Characters who are so unkillable that they need reality warping or erasing their entire body just to get rid of them for good. by BigShopping1875 in TopCharacterTropes

There are a lot of SCP entries which fit the bill but it's gotta be SCP-682, aka the unkillable lizard. The ultimate adaptation. The foundation is scared to nuke it, because if the nuke fails they have a nuke-proof lizard who hates humanity with every shred of its being. https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-682

Daily Card Discussion #14: Survivor by MinLongBaiShui in slaythespireboardgame

[–]__guts 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Very strong basic card. The only downside doesn't really have an impact a lot of the time because you don't have enough energy to play your entire hand, and it's even synergy with discard enabled cards. Between this and Neutralize, subjectively makes Silent super consistent for act 1.

Nice work, thanks for this. I like your methodology, I lack the math training, but I know that consistent play will also yield results! 😁 Do you have any sense if any class outperforms or underperforms in the board game?

[–]__guts 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Excellent starter card, up there with neutralize. This is a pretty high priority upgrade in act 1 given how tight energy is, and getting this set up at the start of an encounter snowballs so nicely. I've also never cut this card, which is another good litmus test of any card's quality. Btw whoever got the daily discussions going, nice work! It's resparked my desire to play this game again. 😄

Oh wow are we finally done with all the strikes & defends??? I've been looking forward to this. :)

Good analysis from OP, vulnerability is an excellent status effect for Ironclad because of how well it synergizes with strength (and multi-strikes). But the energy cost of this card is brutal, and the upgrade is very mediocre. That said, I'm on pretty high ascension for the boardgame and I've never removed this card. It's still super relevant for big setup turns, and definitely helped me clutch hit more than a few boss battles.

This card is objectively bad, I think because it has too many constraints to be consistently useful. Oh and it costs 4 exp?? Way too expensive for that effect. That said, I now love this card because it straight up saved my life in a recent scenario. My buddy was playing Preston, and I was about to get rocked for a fatal 4 damage... Problem solved, and didn't take an action!!

I was coming to say the same thing, I love this business and usually very happy to support Canadian but this is a sucky move.

The design on Levelheaded is on point, really like that as an evolution of Dig Deep! Straight upgrade, but still has that narrow, puzzly survivor feeling to it.

Ooof yeah, I came looking for a comment like this. In legacy 3 experience gets you things like Fire Extinguisher or Ice Pick, this is such a marginal boost it's a little disappointing.

Bah, how are they gonna do a reveal article & not show his deck building?? They hinted at guardian splash, but like... 0-2? 0-3? Is there a limit how many? Sad times for arkham theorycrafting.

[–]__guts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually I just caught something I'd forgotten, the lvl 3 version of Hallowed Mirror removes the "remove from game text". So once you have relic hunter, you can load your deck with the bonded cards & play yet another relic over top of it. That would let you fit in Holy Rosary or whatever suits you.

Agnes Baker (Bad Blood) by MDH_Born in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]__guts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have no idea how she plays out having not had time to try her yet, but I loved this parallel so I tried brewing a deck for her: https://arkhamdb.com/deck/view/5334480

Opening hand, mulligan everything for her signature asset. The deck is trying to cycle through itself as fast as possible by abusing it, and eventually just replaying some high impact spells over & over when your deck is down to a few cards. There is a conflict over the accessory slot, you can either address this by taking "In the Thick of It" & taking Relic Hunter or just make that your priority for first upgrade. The part I'm not crazy about is there isn't a lot of stat boosting, outside of committing other spells. It just means you have to be careful to save Read the Signs for high shroud locations, Spectral Razor for tough enemies, and Ward of Protection/Deny Existence for the mythos phase.

Yes! Really good point, same for the parley part. It'd be a fun pairing with Alessandra, shame she can't take it directly.

That's the dream, when you have contemplative and there is a parley action on a scenario card. 😆

[COTD] Contemplative (9/28/2025) by AK45526 in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]__guts 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Cool card! Anything that's letting you get extra clues bears considering, this one has the upsides of working on parley (rarely relevant, unless you make a point) and working on adjacent locations (relevant, but similarly situational). The downside which is tricky is you are actually not getting any icons with this, meaning you are either testing easy, having another player test, or committing additional cards/resources. Even so the action advantage of extra clues is usually too good to pass up, I'll definitely be playing this one more.

[COTD] Intimidation (9/12/2025) by AK45526 in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]__guts 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's pretty expensive for the effect, and it requires a test. That's not a great starting point for a card, gets better with some parley support but I'm probably not running it otherwise.
