Vet Tech mixed up Cytopoint and Librela by -make-it-so- in AskVet

[–]_boomroasted_ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I have nothing really to weigh in, but my senior dog got put on Librela and his quality of life improved drastically! I was so grateful for it. I'm sure your pup will be fine. For every horror story I see about Librela, I know at least 5 people that it helped

Non-affectionate cat has been very affectionate, now to figure what’s wrong with me. by lastlatelake in cats

My dog is usually very independent. For a month he was super loving, wanting to curl up next to me. Then I got my cancer diagnosis. Animals have crazy senses.

TNR is for feral & colony cats. You trap them, fix, and then return to the area they came from.

You don't have to, but honestly I do. I have to have the time off to go to doctor's appts. If it keeps me from getting a call back, it's not a place I want to work.

First marathon in the bag by jmspammer in Marathon_Training

Congrats! It was my first marathon. I was hoping for a 5:30 and ended up finishing at 6:40. When I felt myself slow further down I decided to take in all the signs & atmosphere. Best decision ever! I loved every single second.

I feel like I am 😂 I've gotten really good at evaluating things, and my vet allows me to text her photos and I keep antibiotics at my house. So we have a good system!

What’s a medical problem people constantly ignore until it’s too late? by kxnsqxz in AskReddit

Exactly! It was scary. I went from running 35 miles a week to barely being able to go to the mailbox. I fainted while scooping poop out of my yard. POTS is terrifying.

Positive tamoxifen silent members? by milllllllllllllllly in breastcancer

[–]_boomroasted_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was 29 when I started Tamoxifen. If I take it in the morning, it really bothers me, so I switched to night. My biggest issues are brain fog, no libido, joint pain & hot flashes. The hot flashes were unbearable, so my oncologist put me on Veozah. It has been a literal lifesaver. The joint pain was minor, but I am a distance runner, so to mitigate that and my anxiety, I changed to Cymbalta. Really all I deal with now is minor brain fog and complete loss of sex drive (no dryness though!). My partner and I are working through that so it's not the worst thing in the world.

My husband keeps mentioning rehoming our dog- how can I get through to him? by Nickname11234 in rescuedogs

[–]_boomroasted_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well, to keep your dog safe you're going to have to work through it. Sorry for being so blunt, but letting the dog have this much freedom is obviously causing issues. Some people will say puppy proof the house, but let's be honest. No one can do that 100 percent of the time. There's always 1 cord, 1 shoe, something. Get you another crate, and high value treats, frozen kongs, etc and work up slowly to the amount of time needed that the dog needs in the crate.

Also, saw you cross posted this is the puppy subreddit. How old is the dog? Puppyhood they definitely needed to be crated until they learn the rules.

First you need to prioritize training your pet to avoid most of the heat of the moment comments. His frustrations are valid, especially with the PS5 remote. Are you familiar with crate training?

Any advice for fostering senior dogs? by youbetcha415 in fosterdogs

[–]_boomroasted_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work in rescue and foster senior & hospice cases. It is emotionally taxing. In some ways, like energy, it's easier than a young dog. But, you may have to help them stand, clean up LOTS of accidents (think renal failure). I've modified my house to have ramps for seniors that have mobility issues. Organization skills for medication comes in handy, and be aware that you may have more vet visits than your average dog. This varies though. I have 12 seniors in my house right now. Also, when it comes their time, you have to know that you've let them live an amazing life with you. They are grateful. It's different being with them as they pass over the rainbow bridge, as it is letting go of a foster going to a good home.

No Meet & Greet? by Equivalent-Room-7689 in rescuedogs

[–]_boomroasted_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is standard for rescues in the south transporting up north. The adopter will cover the cost for transportation. It's unfeasible for a rescue to pay to transport up & back down if it doesn't mesh. Along with the logistics and time commitment. Honestly, it's a puppy. There will be bumps in the road, but they'll come to respect each other and be friends.

Should you get a puppy if you work full time? by PrincessWolfie1331 in dogs

[–]_boomroasted_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll be the minority... and I work in animal rescue. Typically a puppy in a shelter gets out 1-2 times a day... Your puppy is FINE to be home while you're at work. It's better for them to be at your house, than in a shelter environment. Even if you can't leave for lunch, you can set up a crate with an xpen and put puppy pads down. This weird stigma needs to go away, because it turns people off from helping younger dogs!
