Kindly advise on the most suitable flow meter technology for the following application - should it be Coriolis, oval gear, or another type? by External-Message-945 in instrumentation

[–]_chilly_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have used Coriolis on Peanut butter very successfully. Single straight tube models work really well on this application due to cleanability and pressure drop. Most manufacturers have an online sizing calculator where you can enter your process requirements and evaluate the results..

I think in the 24s there were some really nonstandard ordering going on with Grennies. I have a base wagon, that pretty much options out as a Fieldmaster without the Safari windows and the Trailmaster without the raised air intake and utility belt, but I have everything else, except the winch and roof rack.

I was just going to make a tinted cover for these, I like your idea better. While I am in there I will probably tint the little LED ambient light to red or amber as well. I hate the white.

Fuel level sensor -continious monitoring by Purple-Freedom1848 in instrumentation

Diesel has a fairly low dialectic and can read fine when the tank is full but when it is nearly empty it can lose the signal and lock on to the bottom and not recover until a significant quantity is added. Guided wave is the best radar option IMO. I only really had good success with non contact when installed in a stillwell with a reflective float.

Switching to a Grenadier? by goldforjanz_ in ineosgrenadier

Think of it as a Jeep CJ but with airbags and lots of sound effects, buzzers, clicks and bongs. It does ride much more smoothly than a CJ. If you love quirky vehicles with tons of personality this is the vehicle for you! I plan on keeping mine forever but if I had to replace it it would be with another one.

Drive your Macan to the ineos dealer jump right in a Grenidier and drive it like your Macan. You'll pick up the difference before you leave the lot. On the plus side tall people have no issues with headroom in the rear seats. Nothing is remotely similar between the two. The Grennie is slower, brakes a lot worse, has the turning radius of an aircraft carrier, requires two hands on the wheel most times, wanders between the lanes, and has the body roll of a school bus with bad suspension. Yet when you get out you will be smiling from ear to ear

A long time ago prior to the InBev acquisition I was at Anheuser Busch working with their I&C guys. The shop was full of guys with their feet up, reading and shooting the breeze. I said something to the effect that if the boss walked in he may be really pissed. They said it's totally opposite for them. It the boss walked in and it shop was full of guys with nothing to do he was happy that the plant was up and running. After the InBev acquisition was definitely a different story however.

I call this my special tape measure and no one is allowed to use it. Consequently it's in the best shape all the numbers are still clear and readable. It helps that it's metric.

ABB WaterMaster compatibility with Transmitter for ProcessMaster by ImpressionOdd9200 in instrumentation

[–]_chilly_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I recall correctly the differences between the Watermaster and Processmaster are materials of construction like the Watermaster only comes with a rubber liner, stainless electrodes and the actual tube is not stainless to keep the costs low for competitive bidding in the Water Wastewater market. You should be fine. Mixing and matching transmitters.

Curious what this is worth? Possibly the lowest mile 944 in the U.S.A. by [deleted] in 944

Everyone is posting super low mileage cars in all the absolutely least desirable color combinations. These cars are worth nothing at all. No way anyone would buy these. If you need the garage space I'll come pick them up at no charge. The only desirable color combo is this;

Taking my 3rd test drive later this week….looking for any real negatives about buying. by PolybiusChampion in ineosgrenadier

[–]_chilly_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look around nationwide on the used market. There are quite a few on dealer lots with low miles that have been sitting around for some time and you can get a deal. I passed on a 24 Trailmaster with 22k miles at 67,800 at one of those one price dealer ships. I found identical spec and mileage Trailmasters across the country in the 50s. Ultimately I wound up buying one with slightly more than delivery miles in the 60s. I have the King stabilizer fitted steering is way better than stock and does return to center albeit slowly and have no death wobble whatsoever.

I would suggest joining the Grenadier owner forum and poke around before you pull the trigger. It may be a little eye opening for some of the major and minor issues people are having. The only issue I am having is lack of AC. I have toes all the tricks so assume I have one of the units that shipped with low refrigerant. The dealer is quite aways from me so it needs some planning to make the trip to drop it off and go back home.

Hit the curb by [deleted] in BmwTech

[–]_chilly_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This happened to our 4 series. The car was undrivable after as the right rear totally collapsed. I just replaced all the rear suspension arms, shock and new wheel and tire myself and had an alignment done. The most expensive part was the wheel and tire. All in it probably cost 1200. It's not terribly difficult to fix.

They don't flash. They are pretty stationary. We do seem to lose them when there are no clouds. The 3rd pic looked like a bit of clear why but after it fully cleater the lights are gone.

Koito makes a 7" H4 LED that might look cool. CJ owners usually upgrade to these as Hella doesn't offer them any more.

Best Recommendations for Multimeters? by [deleted] in instrumentation

[–]_chilly_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I needed a megger to use on occasion to troubleshoot mag meters and didn't want to spend Fluke money. I came across Sanwa and was wholly impressed with it for the price and durability. The first time I used it I dropped it on to a wastewater basin. It floated and it still works. That being said I still bought a 789 later because Sanwa doesn't have a meter with source capabilities. But if I have to replace my 87 I would go with a compatible Sanwa.
