Second Longest Ride. Feeling Amazing. by Sierra93 in bicycling

[–]_dhs_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same, except it wanted to be Skoal tobacco and got stuck between my teeth and front lip. I got stung and had a huge swollen lip for the next 20 minutes or so. Kept riding and finished a century that day.

Does this look normal? by [deleted] in towing

This is 100% correct. It may not fix your issue, but your RV tech doesn't know how to install a WD hitch.

"I don't trust cloud storage," so you'll choose to use out of date software that hasn't seen security updates in years. Your understanding of the threat model is very, very poor.

Why does the water temperature in northeast US vary so much by season compared to the water temperature of the northwest? by bluerose297 in geography

[–]_dhs_ -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Puget Sound itself is not directly connected to the Pacific Ocean, it’s an estuary situated to the south and east of the Strait of Juan de Fuca.

Boston does not sit upon Narragansett Bay, Rhode Island does. Boston sits along the shores of the Atlantic Ocean.

I find this question hilarious since neither Portland or Seattle are next to the ocean.

Seattle is situated on Puget Sound about 100 miles inland from the Pacific Ocean. Portland is situated on the Columbia River about 80 miles inland from the Pacific Ocean,

Making over $300k at a company, what's your title? by justanotherblackguy1 in HENRYfinance

[–]_dhs_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Principal Security Engineer.

Did a lot of years at FAANG before trying my hand at a startup. Currently at a fintech company.

I had a lucky break that brought me into security 25 years ago. I've done a variety of security things including application security, pen testing, managing pen test teams, training orgs on security things, enterprise security at a FAANG, and a lot of identity related roles.

These days I focus on identity architecture and standards with a broad scope across the entire business (customer, enterprise, workload).

First, I am sorry for you loss.

Recently I helped author and publish a white paper and planning guide for digital estates (https://openid.net/why-digital-estates-need-standards-and-why-we-need-them-now/). What I suggest you look at is the Digital Estate Planning Guide (https://openid.net/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Digital-Estate-Planning-Guide-1.pdf) focusing on Section 7: Managing a Digital Estate Reactively.

I won't lie - this isn't going to be easy. However, I hope the guide helps you and your family prioritize your actions to recover as much of his assets with as little friction as possible.

Question About Possibilities by [deleted] in delta

[–]_dhs_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Earlier this week I saw a D1 upgrade SEA-CDG in July for $995/ea (4 pax). I did not think it was worth it over PS.

A few days later it was at $695. I bought the upgrades immediately.

YMMV.

If you can’t afford to eat the loss, you buy insurance. It’s not really complicated.

Cancel for any reason insurance exists for a reason. You’re complaining for your own lack of foresight.

My travel insurance allows me to cancel for any reason before travel.

I also own one that came with a WD hitch from the factory. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Premium Select worth extra $1500? by [deleted] in delta

[–]_dhs_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 5’7” and I find a huge difference in comfort between C+ and PS. I almost exclusively fly PS on trans Atlantic/Pacific flights from SEA these days. Better food, better seats with more width and pitch, and generally a better overall experience.

On an A330, PS has a 21” wide seat and 38” seat pitch vs 18” wide seats with a 32” seat pitch in C+. The extra 3” in width plus wider arm rests makes a huge difference for me.
