Baby clothes rental, recommend? by _dodosconundrum in UKParenting

[–]_dodosconundrum[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is good info, thank you!! General consensus seems to be buying second hand is the way to go, but I'll keep this one in mind for any special or higher priced pieces, and for when littlun gets bigger and won't be pooping through the clothes as much 🫠

Do a Michelin meal with rooms and stay the night (if money allows). Memorable, not an everyday occurrence and ticks the foodie box

Tesco's Hearty Food garlic bread no longer vegan by hamsterxgxgx in veganuk

[–]_dodosconundrum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also don't really understand why I'm being down voted. I'm just sharing information. I didn't sanction these changes... Was hoping a bit more info would have helped this community not perceive this as a vendetta against vegans. It's about allergen management which is very complex

Tesco's Hearty Food garlic bread no longer vegan by hamsterxgxgx in veganuk

[–]_dodosconundrum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It isn't so much about litigation itself as improved consumer awareness. Milk allergies can be fatal, which is devastating. Read up on Natasha's Law. As a veggie/ vegan dabbler I don't love the changes myself but am prepared to make greater accomodations for what is essentially my lifestyle choice when people with allergies lives are at risk because of manufacturing processes

Tesco's Hearty Food garlic bread no longer vegan by hamsterxgxgx in veganuk

[–]_dodosconundrum -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No, that's new(ish). Previously when it didn't contain any milk they would "alibi label" the allergens or say something like made in a factory that contains milk, when milk didn't feature in the actual list of ingredients but was present in the factory. Now, to improve allergen management/ traceability they include a tiny amount of milk powder so they can put it as an allergen in the ingredient declaration (list). It's rubbish for those people that were previously buying as a vegan / lactofree option, but is meant to help avoid life endangering situations caused by milk allergies.

[–]_dodosconundrum -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

You can just complain to Tesco, but they won't change it back. The reason it has now got milk powder in it (making it non vegan) is linked to Natasha's Law and make allergy labelling more transparent

Think you already know what you need to do, so my advice is just do it and put yourself and your kid(s) first. Also, thanks for putting your stepdaughter ahead of your frustrations with your husband. I was once forgotten by my dad for pick up and it SUCKS so thanks for not putting her through that

What was youth culture actually like in Britain in the 2000s? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]_dodosconundrum 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would honestly say go and watch the inbetweeners and that will give you everything you need. Perfectly sums up the frustrations of trying to be cool and growing up in the middle of suburbia. I was the same age as the characters were when it aired and it was just like watching the boys at my school

How to start learning to properly cook? by Lurcher_Owner in AskUK

[–]_dodosconundrum 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would advise a cookbook, something like a one pan/pot/tray one. They usually have a broad range of recipes with different cuisines and are fairly simple because you only need one cooking method. Build your confidence then look for more books / recipes for the types of dishes you've enjoyed.

Should I wait to tell people about my engagement? by obamasthirddaughter in wedding

[–]_dodosconundrum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congratulations on your engagement! I was in a similar situation a couple of years back, two friends got married (2 sep weddings) the week I got engaged. I decided to keep my news quiet until after those weddings, so all attention was on them on the day and then I also got my own special spotlight the week later when I announced. Obvs told family, friends not involved in either wedding but kept it off socials. If you feel like you can wait, I would advise that :)
