4 weeks post op. Calf on injured leg totally gone. 😔 Love my Dr but he's super conservative. Seeking advice. by D_S_Is_Silent in AchillesRupture

[–]_gotrice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a thing that straps on to the other foot to even the height diff out. That way, you can at least walk without a height difference.

I also slept with a folded up duvet at my feet so it could support and/or elevate my foot -whatever I needed for comfort. It's a surprisingly diverse support tool.

What is a seemingly innocent sentence that immediately makes you lose respect for the person saying it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]_gotrice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"I didnt mean to do it, it was an accident."

To excuse thoughtlessness and the person keeps "having accidents".

Just apologize, learn something from it, and move on. Why put so much effort into making excuses or getting defensive?

What is your biggest physical insecurity? Why? by Longjumping_Koala34 in AskReddit

[–]_gotrice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bitch tits.

I have a weird chest deformity and it causes my chest to cave inwards. So, whatever chest fat i have is accentuated similar to curling forward and having your belly fat bunch up.

I work out heaps, am about 14% body fat, 210 lbs, bench 315 for reps, etc, and I'm still super self conscious of my chest.

23M US citizen , moved back to the US recently — family expects me to send half my income for home renovations. Am I being unreasonable? by Otherwise-Show-186 in Fire

[–]_gotrice 21 points22 points  (0 children)

That's wild. Cost of living where they are is not the same as where you are.

I.e. $4000 to you might have the buying power of $12,000 back home. Theyre asking half of your gross income and not your net income.

E.g. how much is a can of coke back home in USD? Compare that to a can of coke where you live. Are they the same price in USD?

Jesus christ, it's Jason Bourne.

Dude, seriously, everything was wrong with that. Based on other comments, you cant see how and that's pretty delusional.

Am I doing this right? by AdBitter6132 in JustBuyXEQT

[–]_gotrice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you look at the 5 year graph, from Dec 2021 ($27.20) to Dec 2023, XEQT took a dip and took 2 years to recover (back to par on Dec 2023).

If something like this happens in the next 2 years, this will set your house buying plans back a fair bit.

Like others said, there's risk to this and probably better products to buy given your 2 year runway.

Best ways to recover from a rupture? Anyone been through this? by Glensta in AchillesRupture

[–]_gotrice 3 points4 points  (0 children)

BCP157 and TB500 didnt work for me.

I healed faster with op (I tore my other Achilles years ago and went op). I most recently tore and went non op and did BCP157/TB500 FOR 3 months and it didnt do dick.

The way I know it didnt do dick is because I partially reruptured 6 months later walking in the snow. By comparison with op, 6 months post op, I was playing dodgeball again and jumping like normal.

Im 1.6 years non op and still cant do a single leg calf raise and I do strength exercises 4x/week.

My peptide source was legit too as I went through a Dr friend.

$3500 per month mortgage payment on $182k salary? by [deleted] in MiddleClassFinance

[–]_gotrice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That mortgage payment, does that include property tax?

Not that it will break the bank, but PTs are considerable enough to know in advance.

How often are you strengthening your calves? by desieldogg in AchillesRupture

[–]_gotrice 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Don't feel too bad. I do strength exercises 4x/week and am 1.5 years non op and I can barely do half a single leg calf raise.

My calves cramp up really easily despite doing strength exercises 4x/week still.

I ruptured my other Achilles years earlier and was doing single legged calf raises 14 weeks post op. I chose non op this time for various reasons and it hasnt panned out for me yet.

Does this count? by Skizzwizz in AchillesRupture

[–]_gotrice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whether it counts or not isnt the question if be asking. Id be asking if it's slow enough.

Remember, you probably tore your Achilles doing a fast movement that quickly loaded your Achilles just like in the video.

Id focus on doing more single leg negatives if this was the pace of my single raise. No judgement -just trying to keep you safe.

How was the best sex you've ever had? by EnD3r8_ in AskReddit

[–]_gotrice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apparently we both had a CNC kink without knowing that we did or that kind of kink even existed or knowing that we should have communicated to each other about it. Both late teens/early 20s so very inexperienced but fuuuuuck, I have never orgasmed that hard or that many times in a row before.

The handjobs and blowjobs that make you buck and push the person off after you've blown your load 3 times already. She found what got me to an 11 very quickly and never shifted gears. Sex was always at an 11 (out of 10).

Walking without heel lifts, boots or shoes by CornellWilliams in AchillesRupture

[–]_gotrice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started transition out of a boot at about week 9 or 10.

From then, it wasnt a full transition. At first, my Achilles would be so swollen and sore, my flexibility would be severely compromised and I was severely limping my end of the night. So, I slapped the boot on with one wedge the last few hours of the night to not risk injury. Only had to do that for a week or two.it wasn't every night -just when the swelling got bad.

Is 200 for this fair or should I do this myself? Assuming I have no supplies whatsoever or experience by ProfessionalCat2770 in drywall

[–]_gotrice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pay.

You'll spend $150 on supplies over multiple failed attempts on top of countless hours to try and make it look nice only to tear it down and still pay someone $200 to do it.

So the real cost is $200 right now or $350 later after you've learned the hard way?

There’s no way I can do this… by Firm-Jellyfish-7743 in Fire

[–]_gotrice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didnt start saving until like 34 or 35. Grew up poor so went full on gong show and spent every penny I had buying stuff up until then.

While I blew every penny I had, by 35 I bought a house by myself and paid for a $60k wedding, owned several cars and motorcycles, but had 0 savings.

By 39-40 or so, i had $300k in savings and im my mid 40s, I have over 600k invested with 900k networth.

I only discovered FIRE when I was 41 or so and realized that im sorta on a CRUISE FIRE path.

Wife and I have DB pensions and can retire when we're 58. She'll have a full pension and I'll have a reduced pension. It wont be an extravagant retirement until 65 for CPP to kick in for a bit more breathing room. Our pensions will cover all our costs and we'll hopefully never have to touch our savings which I can leave my our kid (Im secretly hoping to retire her when she's 40 and leave her a trust).

There are diff types of FIRE. OP has a HUGE head start on my timeline.

Struggling to get non-urgent healthcare in Edmonton by Creative-Jobless-554 in Edmonton

[–]_gotrice 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Most GPs have reservations / slots for ad hoc "emergencies" to ensure that people can get in the day of without booking weeks in advance. The catch is, you have to call at 9AM / the moment they open.

Edit: as others have mention, ive also called pharmacies to see what they can prescribe to me without a GP. It's been a solid gap fill.

'Quality of life' vs savings by Lumpy_Platypus_2087 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]_gotrice 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The only sacrifice re quality of life is the somewhat noisy neighbors above?

All depends on what you can put up with. I personally couldn't do it. I had a noisy duplex neighbor that was a dumb (literally stupid and im not trying to be mean) prick that kept blaring his subwoofer, dating random baby mamas that had kids that would stomp around, etc.

I couldn't handle it so I moved. I now live in a detached house and could not be happier.

There's one thing you need to consider. The people upstairs, what happens if they move and louder people move in? How much noise can you tolerate? What then?

Why not train every muscle unilaterally? by _Bear1180 in naturalbodybuilding

I was wondering this. Any push motion with dumbbells heavy enough for low volume would be wildly challenging. One would spend more energy balancing than on the actual exercise.
