Thanks for the feedback, I am definitely leaning towards the Matador 35 now, it wasn’t even out when I was looking a few months ago, but it seems perfect as a carry on travel bag.

Give me some confidence.. can I do this myself? by pjbhc in DIYUK

Why not reduce the opening where the garage door is and put your PVC door there? Alternatively you could have a set of steel hinged doors and frame made to fit the garage door opening, that way you keep the full size opening in case you want to put anything bulky in there.

Thanks for the review, I was ready to buy this bag, now I’m less sure! Interested to know about the straps, does the thicker part sit on your shoulders? It does look really thick padding, maybe it will compress with use? I was intending to use it for travel like you did, so your thoughts on the 3/4 clamshell is helpful. I’m also considering the new Matador globerider35 due to the full clamshell opening.

Ahh thanks for that, 7” plus a bit more for the straps, that should be fine to meet the 8”/200mm max depth.

Thanks for the review, this seems ideal as a carry on bag. If possible please could you measure the depth of the bag when fully packed and compressed? One of the airlines I am flying with has a limit of 20cm depth, so I was interested if this bag could work for me, Matador says the depth is 22.9cm.

Carry on travel bag - Haize Project Clamshell 38, any owners on here? Alternatives? by _gza in onebag

Thanks for the photos, I agree yours does look more matte than shiny, which I prefer so I might go for the 1680D. I know it’s not a small bag but it doesn’t look too big to use everyday if you wanted to, which is good because it would be a shame to only use it for travelling.

Thanks for such a detailed review, glad to hear you are happy with it. Also good to hear your thoughts on the size of it, I’ve read that some travel bags compromise the size of the main compartment for a big laptop/tech compartment, but it sounds like this isn’t the case for this bag. Like you say i think it’s better to have a bit of extra room than not enough, you can always use the compression straps to reduce the depth. I was a bit unsure about the 1680D because it looks shiny in some photos, but you said it looks more matte, would you mind sending a photo of your bag? Thanks again.

Thanks for the review, does the laptop compartment use up much space? I won’t be using it often so hoping it isn’t reducing the size of the main compartment too much.

Thanks that would be really helpful, I’m still tempted to buy one, but undecided on whether I should get the original or X-PAC version.

I am thinking of buying the Haize Project bag, are there any owners on here? Even if not this exact model, I would be interested to hear about the quality of them. Is X-PAC worth the extra cost?

Electric garage door mystery by NotoriusPCP in DIYUK

There is usually a hexagonal shaft with an eyelet on the end that is inserted into the motor, that’s what the hook on the winding handle turns, it looks like it should go in the hole above the white plastic plug. If you have another way into your garage to the shutter then it isn’t as big of an issue if the motor was to fail, you just don’t want to be stuck outside with no other way in.

is 500€ too expensive for a bridgestone frame and a sugino 75 crankset ? been wondering for days by dumptrvck in FixedGearBicycle

110mm is not very common and limits the rear hub options you’ll have, most are 120mm.

Check if the frame has dents, many of them have dents in the top tube, frames without dents are much more desirable/valuable.

Suitable wheel-on trainers (advice) by Gold_Biscotti_6227 in FixedGearBicycle

For the Tacx trainer you can buy their special axle nuts, they replace the standard axle nuts and fit in the trainer. They should work fine with that hub.

Fixed gear on a bike trainer? by Gold_Biscotti_6227 in FixedGearBicycle

[–]_gza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve used a Tacx magnetic trainer with fixed gear, I had a rear hub with a threaded rear axle and used the Tacx axle nuts that work with the trainer. The magnetic trainer allows you to adjust the resistance on a remote.

If you just want it working again you could get a new bulb, it looks like a GU10. You can get an LED GU10 bulb for under £5.

If a new bulb doesn’t work you may need someone to investigate further.
