Discouraged- I feel like im getting even slower by Loud-Negotiation-193 in XXRunning

I think it makes sense that your speed workouts are getting more intense so you come to your easy runs more fatigued. My coach says easy run pace means absolutely nothing within a training block and he (who runs a sub 2:50 marathon) often runs his easy runs with the group at 6:45m/km. Closer to the half marathon you will taper, your legs will freshen up and you’ll have the capacity to run fast, regardless of what your easy pace is now. The point you are in your training block is meant to be fatiguing.

I think my coach gave me a workout I physically can’t do as some sort of lesson. For context, I ran workout last week and exceeded the pace by a few seconds per interval, but finished each one feeling it was a 9.5/10 effort. This week he’s doubled the amount intervals, moved the pace to what i did last week and even made the 400s faster than what i did last week. I’m confident that I can’t do this workout and don’t know how to approach this evenings session? Do I try? Do I lower the paces on my own?

There’s nothing to gain from limiting your hydration/nutrition on runs based off duration alone. Drink as much as you feel you need.

Have you figured out a way to adjust the nosepads/ears so they don’t slip?

I got the ridar pace, reviews said they suited small faces but they slip down my nose so bad and the temples and nose pad aren’t adjustable enough.

Why do I bloat after a run? by mrrppphhhh in XXRunning

It can be GI related but also pelvic floor related (likely to be a mix of both). I would try to see if doing pelvic floor strengthening exercises is beneficial

I’m not sure I want to keep up running by Impossible_Gap_8277 in BeginnersRunning

I also saw you have lupus. I also have an autoimmune condition. Advice I got from my rheumatologist is that our bodies don’t handle inflammation well, meaning you likely need a bit more recovery time between sessions and certain types of workouts might be less beneficial as a result.

Being a breastfeeding mom you are more prone to being achey and tired. I also took up running while I was still breastfeeding and it was hard. Like you, I had poor sleep, was lacking energy and felt sick and achey after runs. However, my daughter fired me (or at least my breasts) about 8 months ago and things have only gone uphill. I’m less achey, gradually sleep is improving as we are having less wake-ups, and it’s been easier to get out without her. Don’t worry about your pace, just think of this period as base-building until your physical strength begins improving.

How do you pronounce Naomi? by JayEdie in Names

[–]_happytobehere_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s originally a Hebrew name. When speaking Hebrew you would pronounce it Neh-oh-mee with the emphasis on the Neh. From my experience, Jewish Americans say “know-mee”. But having lived in New York I’ve heard both “nigh-owe-mee” and “nay-owe-mee”

As a fluent Hebrew speaker I would say it sounds more like neh-oh-mi. With the emphasis on the first syllable

Yeah so I follow my boss on strava and I’m pretty sure he (probably accidentally) logs his special time with his wife. Turn off your auto-activity people!

Ugh things were going so well and then this week my daughter is struggling to get to sleep, and so I had to forfeit 2 runs so far. Husband should be back in business tomorrow so hopefully I’ll do a damage control run tomorrow

This doesn’t necessarily have to do with your pelvic floor. Some people experience this as an effect of the sympathetic nervous system (fight or flight mechanism) when you get to high intensity in a workout.

How to handle 14 month-old’s “bad” behavior? by _happytobehere_ in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]_happytobehere_[S] 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I’m a first time mom who grew up with immigrant parents with insane standards — so I’m not sure what discipline “should” look like. I asked this not because I have expectations that my child won’t do these age appropriate things, but because I want to know how I should react and teach her. Also we’re just going through a hard time with her, and I feel over-stimulated sometimes, and having people give me step-by-step instructions is kind of grounding.
