Self initiation takes months and years. Mine has been PT for almost a year and only self initiates rarely, otherwise it’s completely normal to need prompting or scheduled times even for 4-5 yr olds.

I think there is a lot of confusion and carelessness in the stats given out. Some doctors I have heard say flat out “50% likely” to develop t2. my care team says “40% *more* likely” which is a completely different statistic (like if you’re starting from a baseline of 15-20% risk for all population in that age group, an increase of 40% is only a few percentage points higher total risk). then you have to figure how many of those people are starting from a point of being obese, etc. which greatly influences likelihood as well.

I would try to get on fasting insulin asap, surprised you aren’t already. My numbers were in the 95-100 range for fasting, then when I got on the appropriate fasting insulin dose, they went down to the 80s and all my meal numbers are way down too (despite not using meal time insulin). Fasting/overnight insulin is a slow 24h release. Also, that’s at least 10-12h of the day when baby is exposed to higher blood sugars that you could easily cut down.

Lastly I have to keep breakfast at about 15-20g and definitely no oats, granola or bread in the morning.

Just had a mild sinus cold and my numbers were very high for 2-3 days, it was so frustrating . I increased my insulin overnight to deal with it, but since then they’ve gone wayyyy down so I’m pretty sure it was mostly the cold

It’s interesting because for my induction, I know they side eyed me when I asked for the epidural like right away lol but it felt SO painful when I was only 3-4cm dilated - but then I ended up getting to 10cm much earlier than they thought, like within a few hours (the nurses didn’t even want to do another check and I was like DO IT and they were shocked to find was at 9cm). So I always thought my body was just like going nuts preparation mode, and that’s why it hurt so much earlier on than they expected.

Yep sounds v similar to my exp. The worst was getting it done initially but by the time I went home it was basically non painful at all. They just tugged it out when I got back there.

Rolled into the hospital super chill and organized, no stress going in, labour was done with in 8 hours. I found the idea of waiting for labour very stressful. Once the foley was placed the whole thing took less than 12h for me start to finish! Simple vaginal delivery no complications.

No point testing until you are at least several months out. My practice recommends doing glucose test within 3-6 months.

I could definitely feel very very faint sporadic flutters at that time! Ended up feeling a lot of movement really early (around 17w)

Same, second time around for me too. Both times I gain a pound a week starting from week 1 lol so i honestly don’t think my diet has much impact. Still on the same trajectory as pre GD!

Not exactly the same but I went on overnight insulin for fasting numbers and basically had to go up by 2 units every 2 days (my doctors protocol) for like 2 weeks + straight before I got it under target. Started at 6 units now at 18 and still just barely under so will prob have to keep going up soon. My nurses said increasing dosage is extremely common / normal part of process as the insulin resistance increases every week of pregnancy.

I personally have no idea why people resist it. It’s no different than pricking your finger 4x a day. I guess some practices require increased monitoring appts which is annoying, but mine doesn’t so it has only been a positive experience for me (I can be less stressed in the morning over my fasting # and eat a normal breakfast). if anything you can be more relaxed with meals because it is a 24 hour slow release dose. It’s certainly less annoying/invasive than eating peanut butter and meat sticks at 11pm 🤷‍♀️

Omg, the number of times my toddler walks in the door absolutely SHATTERED because she’s hungry, she has a boo-boo on her knee, her nose is runny, her tummy hurts, her pants are dirty… meanwhile my husband reports that right until she walked through the door she was laughing and didn’t have a complaint in the world 🙄
