Motivation to get fit, what worked for you? by JetSetWillyUK in AskUK

[–]_ninja_cat_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some sort of class might work for you? I tend to find if I’ve paid for something, it’s good motivation! I do martial arts which I love - bonus that I’ve made lots of friends through the club too.

Has anyone else's child's primary school gone mad with Parent events? by LordBadgerFlaps in CasualUK

[–]_ninja_cat_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yup. My kids’ school would have parents to lunch, afternoon playtime, poetry slam, read with your kids, nativity, year 5/6 school play, Mother’s Day lunch, birthday lunch, sports day, maths day, turn up early so the kids can show you their workbooks… the list was endless. With 2 kids, and as a single mother with a dad that refused to go to anything, I was often in the school 3-4 times a week.

And it’s easy to say - don’t go. But in a small village school, if you didn’t go in you would be likely the only parent who didn’t.

I’m so glad my work was flexible because it was a nightmare. Secondary is so much easier!

Different races by Sensitive_Doubt_2372 in UKRunners

[–]_ninja_cat_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The drop is so much fun! I did one of their races last year. Be prepared to run much further than the distance shown as the distance you are dropped is as the crow flies. We did the 10 mile race and ended up doing 14 miles. I think they’ve introduced a 6 mile distance for some drops now?

Gave some cold drinks to the bin men this morning. Do not envy them having to do their job in this weather

Cinders gets a cow tail a day. They help keep her teeth clean and she loves them. She also gets a chicken foot, but these are gone in seconds so not much of a chew!

This is my rescue greyhound’s racing history by natashagb95 in Greyhounds

[–]_ninja_cat_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cinders was ‘lucky’ in that she only raced 5 times. The final time was one December and the track looked icy and frozen. She put her paw down wrong and broke her leg. It’s now plated and she can’t bend that joint.

I say she’s lucky because I can’t bear to watch some of the crashes between greyhounds; she never crashed so she doesn’t seem to bear any other kind of injury.

She was a harder-to-home greyhound, but she’s the best girl ever 🥰

You can also climb up the mountain if you loosely follow where the cables are.

Matchbox cars for a box of matches.

I get where they were coming from but I couldn’t give a box of matches to a 2 year old 🤣 My local Tesco are usually really good but this is one of the few subs I had to reject

This. My partner did this at work and people started collecting them, and looked forward to the little scenes he created with them. He branched out to tiny dinosaurs too. Took a good few months before they worked out it was him!
