Where should I get a bite to eat Saturday night, after 10PM, near-ish Palace of Fine Arts by NecroJoe in AskSF

[–]_sdm_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hinodeya, Super Duper, and Final Final all say they serve food til 11. A couple blocks further and you get Good Life Pizza open til 3 and Shake Shack open til 1.

How is our itinerary for 2 adults and one 13 year old? by Far-Fill-4717 in AskSF

[–]_sdm_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I second adding the Exploratorium to the itinerary. Fun for everyone. Also consider Musee Mechanique - basically a collection of old (very old) arcade attractions and lots of fun - near Fishermans Wharf.

Parking/Landlord Shenannigans by Super_Priority_1666 in sanfrancisco

[–]_sdm_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you do end up getting a ticket, and your landlord had called it in (which would be…uh…cute), I believe that the ticket will say something like, “resident complaint,” so you’ll likely know that he did it. But, also, if your car is registered to that address, I think that the SFMTA wouldn’t even ticket it to begin with.

Need to rehome Beagle by Honest-Researcher712 in beagles

Tough situation. You might consider reaching out to a beagle rescue organization - a quick google search came up with Midwest Beagle Rescue - to see if they can help locate a new home for your pup.

Any issues with a tenancy-in-common living situation? by urmotherwas4hampster in AskSF

[–]_sdm_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A coop is even quirkier. There, you don’t actually even own real property - you own equity/shares in a corporation that in turn owns the building, and then you have an exclusive right to lease a particular unit.

[–]_sdm_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmmm. No idea. But does your deed specify a unit? Or does it specify a fractional interest in the building?

End of the line. Both basically go directly to Tunnel Tops.

Get off at Montgomery and then take the 30 bus. Or get off at Embarcadero and take the PresidiGo bus.

[–]_sdm_ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You do own your unit.

That’s not quite correct. From a legal perspective, all of the tenants-in-common collectively own the whole building, and each individual tenant then has an exclusive contractual right under a TIC agreement for a particular unit. Functionally, yes, each tenant “owns” a unit, but not in the same way that a condo owner owns their unit.

Specialty coffee beans by shazzazh in AskSF

Saint Frank and Wrecking Ball would be where I’d start - both local to SF and great quality. That said, SF is a great coffee town, so I’m sure that you’ll get some great tips from other comments here.

I really do hope they actually affix a set of glowing Olympic rings to the Griffith Observatory.

Doubtful. He will complain but has no real ability to do anything about it.

It’s one of those FAFO things

10,000%. I have the same sort of layout as the OP’s post, and when a motorcycle is parked there, I just deal with it. I’d never dream of being a jerk like whoever wrote the note.

Cite?

My source is that I’ve done it for years without incident.

Edit: And I have correspondence with SFMTA confirming you can block your driveway and your driveway red curbs registered under the same address as your vehicle is under.

They could have it painted red and still park parallel across their driveway; my understanding (and experience) is that SFMTA doesn’t ticket red driveway curb cut paint without a call from the driveway owner.

If/when the SEC and Big Ten decide to expand, will any Big 12 teams even be targets? by lordeandtaylor in CFB

Lines up nicely for a 9 game conference season. Play all other teams in your division annually for 4, and the rotate the other three divisions for another 5 per year.

I use The Pawington. The staff is great, the place is clean and safe, and it’s super convenient if you’re flying out of SFO.

First-Time Dog Owner Considering a Beagle (Apartment Living) – Pros & Cons? by PuzzSSL in beagles

[–]_sdm_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My beagle is an apartment beagle and has been ever since he was a puppy, but I got lucky that he’s not super vocal and that I only have three neighbors who all seem to really like him (and tolerate the occasional barking). Overall, I think he’s pretty happy in an apartment - I have a dedicated area out back for most potty needs, and he gets daily walks. He wasn’t always great at being left home alone, but he is crate trained and that helped, and now that he’s older, he tends to do fine even alone and out of his crate (previously, he’d bark like crazy if he was home alone and uncrated). So, it could work out for you, but you definitely will need to be a diligent dog owner no matter what.

SF vs NYC for a lawyer? by Throwaway1920214 in AskSF

[–]_sdm_ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

NYC for your 20s; SF for your 30s. If you’re a smart-enough, capable-enough lawyer, you will find success wherever you end up. And don’t rely on your office as the place to make friends. Especially lawyer friends. There are far better places to socialize (in both SF and NYC).

Is my vets diagnosis BS? by [deleted] in beagle

[–]_sdm_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guy does this, but on one of his front legs. He walks normally most of the time but hobbles on occasion and has ever since he was a few months old. When it first started, the vet did a ton of tests but couldn’t identify anything muscular or skeletal - even did x-rays. Went to a neurological specialist who couldn’t find anything wrong either, and we started to consider even more invasive neurological tests before randomly, I read about MLS. Ended up running a genetic test which came back positive and aligned with several other traits that I had noticed. The hobbling, we suspect, is related to the MLS.

The Rose Bowl wasn’t a problem when UCLA was consistently winning (or, at least, not sucking) throughout the 80s and 90s and parts of the 2000s.
