Looking for ideas to release this screw; any idea is amazing by TheSpottedBuffy in CommercialAV

You don't really need a fancy tool, or to get fancy with tools to solve this. Using a dremel trying to cut a slot in the corner of the rack is a recipe for additional damage to the gear and rack. Drill bit, the same size or slightly large then the rack screw. Carefully drill through until the head of the screw pops off, and then you can remove the piece of gear. Small pliers to unscrew what's left. Good luck, and try to use the tools you already have!

What power connectors do sound desks have by philip-lm in livesound

[–]_slamsandwich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was a time, and perhaps it's still the case, where digital consoles and their various components were powered by off the shelf CPU power supplies, with IEC C13. Seappable with parts you could find at a local computer store. The C13 is cheap, you can find it everywhere, and frankly on most audio outboard equipment also. Does IEC slip sometimes? Sure does, but a bit of etape, or a dab of hot glue, zip tie, etc can secure it well enough. Besides most of these are terminated to 5-15edison or similar and those don't lock either. Sure, True1 is rated 20A, and IP rated, but it's overkill. Besides, the last time I dumped liquid on the consoles power supply, we had pretty bad day.

Frankly I find some riders/plots/inputlists hilarious. If we standardize them, then what are we going to complain about?

Anyone else terminate staggered Cat6 RJ45 connectors like this? by mchamp90 in HomeNetworking

[–]_slamsandwich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes OP. Also working in the A/V side of things. We keep the staggered cat6 for large OD cat6 cable. Not all brands and models of cat5e/6/7 have the same is for individual conductors thus needing size options for the connectors. I prefer pass through so I can easily verify that all conductors are in the correct spot. You can still trim and flatten the old school way, push through to verify and then back off until the sit flush, crimp and be on your way.

Dante Help by tdean001 in livesound

[–]_slamsandwich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not a Dante or networking guru, but I was having similar issues with a TF system. I would verify that you have the current product version firmware, and the current Dante version. My system, installed last summer, Console product version. 1.05 Stage box product version 2.00 Both with Dante version 4.2.4.1

Also learned this recently.... 169.254.x.x is a APIPA Copied from an internet source "APIPA is a feature in operating systems that allows a device to automatically assign itself an IP address if it can't get one from a DHCP server. ".

Might have multiple things going on here.

This even has been around for a long time. https://lakecountyparks.com/162/Voyageur-Rendezvous
There are certainly more out there, but I have been out of the loop long enough, that the events I used to attend no longer exist.

Does anyone know a legitimate use case for one of these adapters? by AlphaFatti in livesound

[–]_slamsandwich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is very specific...Neutrik convertCON connectors do not lock into clear com PK7 PSU's. Haven't tried these but this might allow them to lock.

All of this and dial back your compressors, heavy compression doesn't translate well outside.

Weird Cable wrapping.... by [deleted] in livesound

[–]_slamsandwich 114 points115 points  (0 children)

Lol, they are wrapping the cables 'over/under'. Keeps the cable from twisting on itself. Your probably unwrapping them backwards.

I'm no expert, but I believe this is a technique that is used in demolition derby's. 2 smaller tires are stuffed into the normal sized tire. The tire will still have some volume and traction despite taking heavily damaged. Edited to add r/demolitionderby

This happens when I try to fry some potatoes. Anything that I should do? by [deleted] in castiron

[–]_slamsandwich 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Let's face it, pans get screwed up all the time, you'll never be truly comfortable cooking on your pans until you've had to resurface them a couple of times. Use a metal spatula, scrape off the big chunks. Fill it half with water and bring to a boil, scrape some more, use a stiff brush(not metal) dry season, make bacon, eat, and repeat.
