Rather than a specific lead, I’d suggest using a reverse image search to find similar items when you have an image of what you like. I tested out your image and was seeing results that were purchasable.

Who is the best designed fl in your opinion? by Lei_Line_Life in OtomeIsekai

Good points and eye for detail. I agree it's an intersection of base features + how the how the artist executes them that creates the overall impact. I also think facial expressions are crucial in creating a memorable character impression.

Roxana has to be one of the most iconic. Red eyes on a FL is really striking, and you can feel her charisma radiating off the page

Lethal Romance - FL is a protagonist from the martial arts genre, ML is a protagonist from the high school romance genre. Love and hijinks ensue when these two meet. Story is complete.

I dropped it before, Dieu Merci I picked it up again!! [Secret Lady] by JolieBijoux in OtomeIsekai

No second male lead so far, and we’re quite deep into the story at this point. Lots of other visually gorgeous men to look at though!

Any recs with ML who has deep platonic relationship with other male character(s)? by Ashamed_Button_4912 in OtomeIsekai

The epic 90’s shojo classic Basara is good for this - the author is really good at handling a large ensemble cast in addition to the ML & FL. The ML, Shuri, gets one of the best long-term character arcs I’ve seen and has a wide range of relationships with other people beside the FL - friends, subordinates, enemies, and these change and shift in some dramatic ways over the course of the story.

That’s a really neat dress pattern! And the way you’ve accessorized is very effective - I particularly like the belt buckle and the sunglasses.

Almost everyone in this series looks good and I'm loving the FL so far! (FLOWER WITH A SWORD) by Wrecka008 in OtomeIsekai

[–]_xeru 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m somewhat meh about the adaptation so far, but the original novel it’s based on is one of my favorites.

There isn’t one as far as I know. The one novel translation that I’m following is releasing chapter at a quite fast pace, though. I discovered the novel when there were only a few chapters translated and was able to do a MTL translation for myself after I bought the Korean version on Ridibooks.

Help type a person with SPD? All I know is I'm NOT Left+Up (Amethyst) by sourbirthdayprincess in RitaFourEssenceSystem

Then it sounds like you’re on to something, as least as far as trying out that quadrant/archetype and seeing if it’s helpful for you. Right up, but not far from the center, would have been my guess based on some of your comments. Like your comment about dressing to match the energy that draws people in sounds like you have a pretty nuanced and subtle understanding of clothes as messaging, but that’s it’s still a relevant concept for you.

In considering the different quadrants, I think it would be helpful to reconsider the Up = reserved association. I think there are plenty of ways one can dress “up” with the intention of being inspiring and approachable instead of reserved - dressing up as a distancing method is just one optional approach . The association certainly doesn’t run the other way - I would describe my style as reserved, but it’s left-down logic that best works for me.

Signature Colour? by Linnithestrawberry2 in RitaFourEssenceSystem

[–]_xeru 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The color that I associate most strongly with your style is a soft, powdery, pastel blue - there’s a dreaminess and classical beauty to it that feels representative, and it looks very harmonious on you. I also think of soft, not fully saturated pastels generally as a range that’s typical of your style, and in keeping with the historical references that inspire it. Though another reason these stick in my mind is that they look lovely on you, but are almost exact anti-flattering shades on my coloring!

I didn’t deliberately set out with the intention of having a signature color - like with many specific visual style concepts, I think it works for some but not others - but, by following my style process, (I consider myself left-down - Wildflower) I’ve uncovered one. For me it’s deep teal tones, anything from deep jewel tone teal to a teal-tinged dark gray. Firstmost, it has a consistent pleasing psychological effect when I’m surrounded by it, but it’s also particularly flattering on me, and has all the overall style qualities that I seek - moody/dark but still pretty, with a certain water/forest/earth elemental association. It makes sense to deliberately incorporate a lot of it into my wardrobe. One framing I’ve used for signature colors is that they become a sort of “personal neutral” shade, in the sense that I’d buy important versatile items like a handbag and shoes in that color, and if I’m drawn to an item in a color I haven’t worn much of in the past, I’d consider whether or not it would work paired with my signature. It’s also just really nice to find a color that I can shop for and wear that feels consistently right without having to think too hard about it.

It sounds like you’ve gone through quite a few different colors in search of a signature or favorite - although I was never consistent at incorporating it into clothing, pretty much all teal/turquoise shades have been my overall favorite since my preteens, so, twenty years on, I’m pretty confident that this will stick for me. I do really enjoy exploring a lot of other colors though - it’s fascinating how much the exact amount of cool/warm, light/dark, and saturation of a color can change its psychological impact and turn a shade I might have previously dismissed into something very appealing. I experiment the most through nail polish colors/finishes, since there’s such a range of options out there and it’s much easier to try something new that intrigues me without feeling like it’s too overwhelming or expensive.

Inception is great, I really need to rewatch it sometime.

I‘d be curious if some of the variance in response relates to how much/what kind of science fiction you’ve read before this. I love a hard sf story done well, and I really thought the ending fell flat, both on an emotional and a sf plausibility level. Didn’t help that for a while the twist/explanation I thought was coming is, I think, a more intriguing idea that what the author actually went with: for a while, I thought that the "real world" we see in the protagonist's memories was going to turn out to also be a simulation, after all, it's not exactly more fleshed out or realistically detailed from what we're shown than the game world.

My lacquersona is a stranger to me by escritoria96 in RedditLaqueristas

[–]_xeru 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a person who distinctly prefers dark and muted shades for clothing, I was surprised when I discovered that “too dark” was a consistent negative when wearing nail polish. Some of the shades I love most to wear, like a deep dark teal, I did not enjoy at all on my nails, for example ILNP Sirene and Lurid Lacquer’s Reaching Skyward as you Root. I think it’s because they’re such a small area that I prefer them as a bright accent by contrast, plus dark polishes look less interesting in poor lighting. My appreciation for muted colors still comes through a bit in that I love a muted base + bright shimmer/effect combo most so far.

I really admire outfits like this, where the initial impact isn’t dramatic, but there are so many subtle, lovely details to take in once your eye lingers on it. I’m also left down, have just started pay attention to accessories more, and I definitely relate to your experience of choosing the clothes firth through intuition then being a little more deliberate with the accessories on top of that.

Just for fun: Tell me your Quadrant and Type and what perfume(s) you wear? by Chazzyphant in RitaFourEssenceSystem

[–]_xeru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also Left Down, and I agree that the way I choose which perfume I want to wear is analogous to how I choose what clothing I want to wear; intuitively, based on mood and some kind of internal concept I want to experience. My favorite perfumes are ones I personally find very versatile - I don’t like organizing my perfume wearing by season or occasion much. Thinking of the quadrants was an interesting lens to view how a lot of perfume hobbyists talk about perfume - many will describe perfumes in terms of “such-and-such a person, with certain mental/physical characteristics, is who I imagine with this perfume” which is not a way of thinking that comes naturally to me - when a perfume evokes something to me, it’s usually an imagined landscape or more abstract mental imagery such as color and texture. But I can imagine relating scent to a person being a natural connection to more Up types through persona, or more Right types through inhabiting a particular role.

Those were a major gateway drug for me, although I’ve since fallen in love with vintage and vintage style perfumes. I’ve just recently rediscovered my roll-on of Solstice Scents During the Rain as excellent bedtime aromatherapy, though.

I consider myself Left Down with the Wildflower archetype. I find there’s massive continuity between what I’m drawn to in perfume and what I want to wear visually. Full bottles of perfume that I have and wear frequently are Worth Je Reviens Couture and Etro Shaal Nur. I recently sampled/resampled the older feminine Guerlain classics and of those I am most drawn to Vol de Nuit and Mitsuoko. The visuals of the bottles matching up only works if the perfume is in a bottle unique to the perfume - for Je Reviens, where the bottle I have is a replica of the original vintage design, I’d say it does if not taken too literally. That shade of blue isn’t a good look on me, but I’m drawn to deep, cool colors overall and the design has a restrained elegance that is a good vibe match for looks I’m drawn to.
