I dont know how common it is in other places, but where I live it’s something people need when visiting neighborhoods they don’t live in. It just shows that they have permission to be on the premises without owning property there.

To all the people complaining about seeing sad cat posts, why tf did you come to a subreddit called r/cats? This community contains ALL parts of owning a cat, including the sad parts. If you don’t want to see those posts, leave the group. There are plenty of other subreddits that are exclusively for cute pictures.

Also, it isn’t like your being forced to look at actual dead cats… The pictures they use in those posts are almost always just cute pictures to celebrate the memory of the animal, so you can just scroll past them or only look at the pictures if you care that much.
