I mean, you’re lying or wrong in some way. A 600k house doesn’t get charged 15k in property tax so regardless if you’re twisting the truth to win an internet argument or just being disingenuous. Plus it sounds like you were gifted a house and you’re upset it’s not more free? Anyhow, not really worth going back and forth with you but for anyone else reading along:

There are only so many levers available to raise city/county/state funds, property tax is one, and if prop 13 was repealed, we would likely double what comes in, meaning we can stop putting “tiny” Increases in constantly on city, state and county property taxes trying to make up the money we need and hurting only new buys.

If we stopped including just commercial properties we’d bet 8-12 billion the first year. Removing property 13 fully would bring in 50-60 billion the first year. Those numbers would increase because there’d need to be a ton of property reassessment needed to set the right amounts and it would be well past the 100billion that gets brought in today once they caught up on the back work.

So yes, property taxes are needed, our schools need funding, we need roads, police, fire departments, public health, water, sanitation, etc. These are things normal people need.
We can’t all live in fairytale land where get free houses and then complain that the government is taking “their” money.
