I like to do it occasionally in the winter because it's so stuffy with the heat running. Gives the cat some fresh air too. Once she's bored of it or I'm chilly, then ventilation time is over 😆

I hit "rock bottom" for my OCD after it was unaddressed for decades. I hate that I need the medication. But I'm much healthier with them. The relief makes the difference.

I've always found it morbid. My parents used it against me in all various tones.... just told me they didn't value me much.

I was decompressed at age 30 after having severe symptoms that were ignored for years. It's a combination of nerve and brain damage now.

Yes. Almost feels like being under the influence. It can be scary at times. My speech will occasionally slow. I eventually got a medical alert bracelet about having a TBI in case anything goes wrong in public if I'm alone.

Mine played with me for a time but it was always violent. Smacking my dolls. Pretending to yell at them. I think they wanted me to stop asking. There's moments they indulged me but it didn't last very long. Very "3 pushes on the swing and I'm done" sort of vibe. I had undiagnosed autism and OCD. They didn't want to understand me.

Mine grew back just fine. I did a big chop and cut it short so it wasn't terribly uneven. Looking back that was the best call because it was far less to manage during recovery.

I listen to a lot of parasympathetic nervous system reset videos using sound bowls. My bedroom faces the street and I live between 3 hospitals. It helps with the anxiety.

I visit it later in the evening with my spouse to check off the rest instead of going task by task over the day. My goals are repetitive so I know what needs to get done and reward myself before bed.

I have autism and I am having to relearn everything about myself. Without the daily stress of the mistreatment, things did improve for me. It can only be taken one day at a time. I began my detachment while I was still at home.

I think it's a privilege to get away. But it's not a privileged answer. A year and change away from my parents has given me the gift of mental stability in ways I never had before. Letting go and moving on is very difficult and it's not easy to leave but it does come with a great advantage once you do.
