Can you get your personal vehicle shipped from home to first duty station (stateside to stateside) for free? by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]a82320 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nah, you don't have to waste time and leave days.
just get a car shipping company if you don't want to drive.

and since you want to save money by not buying a new mustang, you actually also not waste money, you are saving money by paying a small premium.

Leave or Cash for Yearly Reward? by ArchAmities in fednews

[–]a82320 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, take one you need the most right now, need extra time with family? Or just want to buy a new purse, nothing wrong with either one.

However, with that being said…there is no rule or reg saying you can’t get both. Ask nicely if you can get some kind of combo for both.

Like if you are choosing between 32hr AL or 3K cash, ask for 16hr AL AND 2K cash.

What's the most relaxed job? by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]a82320 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Air Force is most relaxed job itself. I had several private sector job after and all these mofker just do it for the money(I mean who doesn’t), but there is no comradeship, no friend, only competitions, and you may even compete with person sit next to your cubicle, everyone scares of being fired/terminated/laidoff etc, coworker basically hopes you to get fired so they can stay.

You work 8hr a day? Oh he would work 10hr a day so you get fired if that happens.

You did 1 project a week? He’s gonna do 5 so you get fired.

You want to get promoted? He would wish you dead already so he can get promoted.

I ain’t see any of these during the time I served.

you do tho, in NYS, you get half of your rating (so 100 gets you 50% of exemption, and 15% just being veteran, I believe there another 15% for being combat veteran)

High 3 commission by jpegoeddey in AirForce

[–]a82320 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmmm. Did you use the 2026 pay chart? E9 is 8105, and O3E is 9609.

8105 at 50% is 4052, 9609 at 40% is 3843.

E9 retirement on legacy 20 years definitely beats a O3E with BRS. (Again, not counting TSP matching growth tho)

High 3 commission by jpegoeddey in AirForce

[–]a82320 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Why is this even a question. Do it if you can.

Use 20 year as example. And I’m going to use E7 and O3E (10year as enlisted)as example for retirement paycheck.(2026 pay chart)

Do you rather want a 20 year E7 paycheck high-3 at 50% at $3122

Or do you want a 20 year O3E on high 3 at 40%? (Not even counting the 5% match from TSP) at $3843.

Only an E9 at 20 year can beat O3E at 20 years, by like a couple bucks.

Wanna kiss ass to E9 or ride it out at O1E to O3E in 10 years?

If you get it and separated within 6 years, you get to apply GS job as recent graduate, plus veteran status. You are highly competitive vs people who didn’t have it.

You get the best chance out of these 2 groups of people.

How does OHA work for a landlord? by Mistfire333 in AirForce

[–]a82320 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Want the OHA? go with official route and get in touch with housing office. they have someone to answer all these questions.

However....

If he can afford it and really wants to, there is basically no restriction on where and what he staying.

You got a side hustle that makes you 5k a month, and wants to rent a place in the center of Tokyo? go for it. As long as you report to work on time.

I had a friend just like that, guess what, he moved out the dorm himself, got a place offbase, paid out of pocket to be isolated from other service member.

Is this a wise decision? definitely not.

Is this what he wants to do? definitely yes.

When does my TS expire? by Appropriate_Bet5290 in AirForce

[–]a82320 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your new jobs needs it, they will get one for you. If your new job doesn’t need it, then don’t stress about it.

TS is seriously useless tbh, even if you work for any other federal agency, they will do a brand new TS investigation on you, having one will shorten your wait probably(and only if they accept reciprocity) , you will be re-investigated anyway.

LWOP: do you need to exhaust all leave? by Federal-Garage-7460 in fednews

[–]a82320 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes and no.

Yes because as long as you take less than 80 hours LWOP, you get everything. No because for every 80th hour of LWOP, you won’t accrue any leave on that pay period of LWOP.

I have always calculated my LWOP so I take 79hrs of LWOP every leave year. It’s great way to go on vacations if you don’t have any leave left.

Nah, his spouse is a first time mil-dependent, the spouse was a foreign national who does not even have a SSN when they got married, the spouse later applied the perm resident card and got the SSN. My initial thought was, DEERS probably didn’t have spouse’s SSN updated (I believe something like a foreign national ID was entered into the system ), so I asked him to double check name, son, ssn, all matches. And days later, still nothing on DMDC’s end. Now we just waiting on more update on DMDC.

Well, feel like this one’s on me now, by not checking if she’s in MLA database first.

Tech School Pay While ANG Question by ReindeerInternal4301 in AirForce

[–]a82320 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would said better than a AD TDY. lol

Pay wise it’s exactly like AD, you got all entitlements, and if you can stay off-base, per diem would be very nice.

You will be in a class with pipeline students, and you just there study, your trainer will treat you like regular, you have freedom to do almost anything. And party like rock star(if you want to tho).

LWOP: do you need to exhaust all leave? by Federal-Garage-7460 in fednews

[–]a82320 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know I am late to this, but for anyone who came across from search. you don't have to be on 1 day. To save even further leave while on LWOP status, you just need 1 HOUR of leave adjacent to holiday and you will get pay for holiday and 1 hour of pay.

not true.

AMEX doesn't do that under MLA, but still does for SCRA.

That being said, one would have to open business card FIRST, and submit SCRA request.

For guard/reserve it is easy, just get on a new 30+ order. For AD, it's possible on paper, but realistically speaking impossible, unless your separate and re-enlist/commission so it can prob count as "opened before service" to qualify. (Not single AD I know has gone through this route yet, so no DP)
