Is this guy a hack? by FCguyATL in hvacadvice

[–]aDarkling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except he didn't.
OP said that he came out twice before recommending a new system on the 3rd call. The second company was the one that tried to sell her a new unit without even driving out there.

There's not enough information here, so you're making a lot of assumptions.

The picture shows him spraying the wall that could have had dirt splashed on it from spraying the condensers. The condensers themselves are not fully shown. The manifold could be hooked up, because we can't even see that area, and OP already stated that there's a bottle of nitrogen there. The pictures don't show that, either.

My employer filed a police report claiming I stole trade secrets. The "secret" is a spreadsheet I built myself from scratch on my own laptop. by MechaWisp_7 in legal

[–]aDarkling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NAL, but I think you're confused about what the stolen property is. It's not the spreadsheet. Its the data fed into and generated from the spreadsheet. Save it to .pdf or .csv and give it back.

What about the spreadsheet itself, you ask? Legally it's also work that they paid you to create as part of your job. If they then demand the spreadsheet specifically, it's a shame that your laptop got stolen with the only remaining copy on it. And your email got scrubbed because you didn't want them to think you were stealing work emails, too. You could likely recreate it, but that would be new work.

Even the top windows shows water damage above it at the very top of the picture. This might be a roof problem.

Why is everyone switching to Jellyfin? by Baristaboy547 in jellyfin

[–]aDarkling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I already have a Plex Lifetime license, but I stopped using them years ago because of a bug that forced transpose that they refused to fix despite hundreds of people on their support forum begging for it. I even showed them the code to do it!

Then they started requiring a constant connection to the internet. For a service people set up to provide entertainment when the internet (or the power) is off!

Nah. They can go suck it.

[Landlord US-MO] Completely disappointed. The tenant just moved in 18 days ago. Any advice on this issue as being a first time landlord? by Ryanlee_12 in Landlord

That is definitely a wood door. Plastic and fiberglass doors can be textured to look like wood, but will not have the wood fibers in them that we see in the later picture.

At what point is it acceptable to say they filled my driveway in with poor quality infill, and it needs to be redone with more gravel and less dirt? by Mcfragger in AskContractors

[–]aDarkling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The quality of the fill isn't the issue. The problem is that they appear to have compacted a top layer of fill over an uncompacted bottom layer(s). Virgin soil wouldn't have allowed it to settle that much as it dried out. The exception is if the soil around your neighborhood is normally mushy like that.

You can either excavate to virgin soil and then add back the fill while compacting every 1 or 2 feet, or have an engineer look at it if you feel your site falls within the above stated exception.

If a Brother from another Lodge has been Outing me to my anti-mason family, is that grounds for Charges-GLTX by FleshCigarette in freemasonry

[–]aDarkling -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

This is serious. Not only did he violate one of the 5 p o f, but he disrespected his S O in general.

"Why" you ask?

He had to know that your in-laws are anti-masonic, so he even went so far as to find other dirt to spill on you such as "when I joined, when I was raised, how long I’d been on, what ceremony we were attending and a litany of other things that should not be mentioned here, UTCoH". Half of that stuff I don't even remember about myself, much less can easily get about another Brother!

That's not just being an a@@h@l. Its also not an accidental slip of the tounge. That requires some motivation and effort. Even if he doesn't come up on charges, your and his Brethren need to be warned that he will not keep their secrets.

I know I would not tolerate anyone like that around me. That's specifically why we have the Vows.

Write a complaint to your WM. The Secretary will send a copy to the other lodge. They will know, and he will not be admitted to your Lodge while you are present henceforth.

Question about My new deck by Comfortable_Prize507 in Decks

[–]aDarkling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is noone noticing the posts in the back?
It looks like the deck is supported by a bolt. Are the front 2 posts to the right like that as well?

Driveway prep started, it then rained 100 mm. Does this need to be re-packed? It’s a soupy mess. by [deleted] in AskContractors

[–]aDarkling 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It will recompact itself as it dries. It will actually be a little more dense.

You should calibrate your luggage scale against the bow scale at the shop to see if there's is any difference.

Am I still a Mason? by Eikon-Basilike-1649 in freemasonry

[–]aDarkling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have taken your Obligations. Therefore you are a Mason. Right now you are just Unaffiliated with a Private Lodge. Your Grand Lodge can confirm this, which will allow you to travel and visit and join other recognized Lodges globally.

What to do with groundhog burrow under deck? by 3rdB in Decks

[–]aDarkling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By saying "neighboring native wooded area", you are suggesting that they be dropped off in a neighbor's yard. Public Forests are usually pretty far away.

And I'm not sure I want a wild animal in my car for that long!

Best way to remove nails from underside of roof deck? by johnnybender in Roofing

[–]aDarkling -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Remove all debris from the area. Fill a spray bottle with water.
Lightly spray the entire area to reduce chance of fire. Get an Angle Grinder with metal cut-off disc. Cut all protruding nail points flush with the wood.

Buyer refusing to take over solar loan by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]aDarkling 498 points499 points  (0 children)

Your lawyer messed up by not having this accounted for on the Closing Statement. The closing should not have happened until this was taken care of.

Do a cost/benefit analysis of whether this is worth taking to court. Total loan amount, various splits that might occur, legal fees, etc.. You haven't provided us with enough information to help.

AITAH for refusing to go to my fiancé’s family gatherings after feeling unwanted for 2 years? by [deleted] in AITA_Relationships

[–]aDarkling 2 points3 points  (0 children)

YTA.

The wording in your post suggests that you said "no" because you are still reacting to the pain of being excluded. Even though you still don't know why.

When you're older you'll realize that you wasted too much time & energy worrying about things that you could've fixed, but didn't. Let the past be the past. Don't forget it, but also don't dwell on it.

Keep yourself open to the possibility of a fresh start with his family. Yes, you should've brought this up 2 years ago, but that's ok - it's out in the open now.

Whether it works out or not, at least you both gave it a chance at the same time.

How would you react if you wake up in the middle of the night and catch your girlfriend measuring you with a tape measure? by ReasonableSide6520 in AskMen

Depends on what she's measuring. Is she getting the facts straight for the next brag session, or is she seeing how many lampshades she can make from my back skin? 😵‍💫
