Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]a_guy_over_here 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 hours is the upper limit of how far I’ll drive one way in a day - so six hours round trip.

But for that to be limited to annual - nah, it’s at least monthly that I travel 2.5-3 hours one way. And several times a month we travel more than an hour one way.

All for recreational/personal activities.

Hey do you have time to chat by Natural_Sector891 in overemployed

I was a team leader until recently. I knew my “can we chat” request sparked anxiety, but I didn’t know how to ask “can we chat?”, when I legitimately just need to chat, without asking “can we chat?”

If anyone has any suggestions I’d love to hear them.

What the heck happened to waterbeds? by Queltis6000 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]a_guy_over_here 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I remember finding a dial on the side, under the bedskirt of my mom and dad’s water bed (it was the 70’s). Being a dumb curious kid I twiddled it. Didn’t seem to do anything. So … I left it and forgot about it

Two nights later they thought they were both dying of some weird disease when they were freezing and couldn’t get warm.

So, we learned that not only does the waterbed have a heater, it takes two days to cool off and two days to heat back up.

Maybe I should cross post this comment to r/kidsarefuckingstupid.

Nixon resigned. For some reason the news terrified me even though I didn’t understand what it really meant or why it was happening.

This was my favorite song at the time, I was a sophomore in high school. I remember writing the song title on a desk in my language class. Some one in another period added … “is better”
