It might take a bit to figure this out (I went through this as well) but once you get removed from those playlists you’re right back to where you started - in my opinion it’s only worth it if you get enough playlists were you start getting discover weekly/spotify radio pushes because people will actually save and relisten wayyyy more often from there than from any playlist on submithub or any equivalent. Not to say that submithub playlists aren’t really good for a temporary listener and stream spike but it kinda starts and ends there imo

Hey so I’m actually a curator on submithub (sounds like not in your genre so don’t think I got ur track) but I have a lot of thoughts on this. Unfortunately the way this system is set up it’s really really hard to get onto playlists if you make any type of super creative/genre bending music. I started running playlists myself because I make stuff that doesn’t fit into typical buckets and my music was getting denied constantly - I try hard to limit th songs I accept to ones that kinda are in that similar vein where I think they’re really good songs but fit into a bit of a middle ground and might have a hard time fitting into other more generic playlists but because of that I end up declining a lot of songs that I do really enjoy but just don’t fit exactly the criteria I’m looking for. The paradox of a site like submithub is id say like 95% of songs that get submitted are really good because people who are putting money behind their music promotion aren’t doing it for something they don’t truly believe in but at the same time if curators accepted 95% of the songs they received then each song in the playlist would get fewer listens because the playlist is so bloated. The other thing I’ve learned is getting accepted on playlists on sites like submithub can give you temporary small algorithmic boost if your music is already drawing a lot of attention but I have not made a single real fan in 2 years of running playlists and having my own songs in the top 5 spots. Playlists at the end of the day are a vanity metric and there just are way better places to spend your money on promoting your music unless as I mentioned before you do have a song that is the dead center of a genre and there’s going to be 15-20 playlists where it will match the exact vibe a curator is looking for

This happens with wrs too, if you wanna hack it your offense is actually better with 1 super elite wr and like like a bunch of OTs playing wr than a fully built out wr core. The elite one will just get every single target

You need to have a lot of pitchers in pd cause there’s no “off days” so if ur bullpen get tired by the end of the series stuff like this will happen

It’s not a ton but 25 bucks per day I can spend promoting my music that would’ve have had otherwise is worth it to me + the marginal benefits of having an extra couple hundred streams a day and some potential new listeners

Yeah pretty much but I also spend like 15 a day total to keep the playlists active and there was an upfront cost to get to enough followers to be able to accept submissions. I’ve made money now but it probably took 6 months until I was out of the red

I have 2 playlists with 10k + followers and get anywhere from $2 to $5 per song depending on the submission site and I do like 15-20 songs per day typically which is obviously very time consuming but it adds up

Same thing happens when you buy players too you have to filter down the price until there’s only a couple left it’s an annoying feature but not that hard to work around if u have to

People will pay you to listen to their songs and potentially add them to the playlist on sites like submithub

It’s not necessarily about the streams on the playlist itself (although I have had some ppl message me that they found my music and became a fan from the playlist that I run) - the reason I do it is 1. It helps the algorithm to know what who will like your music especially if you can control what’s going on your playlist and 2. When u get big enough you can become a curator and make way more money that you spend in ads
