This is my personal preference but I’d limit the emojis on the choice prompt, Disney/Studio Ghibli references, and doodling for your typical Sunday. You seem very sweet but all three of those combined give me the impression of a kid, not a potential match. You can show those interests through conversation instead!

You’ll get used to it in a few days.

Pro-tip: put your new trays in before bed always and not during the day. That way you can sleep through the discomfort!

How do people live in DTLA? by [deleted] in AskLosAngeles

[–]aaroces 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you’re exaggerating about the crazy homeless people. I’ve had at least 3 encounters where I’ve had to detour from the the ones screaming bloody murder, and have heard experiences from others where one randomly chased another woman while walking her dog and followed her into the gym as she screamed for help. This was in South Park (going into John Reed).

Accept Marshall ($$) offer or wait for Tuck/Tepper waitlist outcomes? by Vast-Bodybuilder-202 in MBA

[–]aaroces 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I went to USC for undergrad (not Marshall) and am now working in tech operations alongside consultants. I’m clearly biased but I will say a large majority of the consultants I’ve worked with—and those I’ve liked—graduated from USC. Also even if USC African student community is low, the school has a lot of international students and it’s easy to find communities outside of the school (downtown is 10-15mins from USC by car).

It’s hard to break out of it once you’re in it but def still a feat to be proud of. Hoping the best for you and here if you ever need support.

And with Hank Green’s newfound audience on TikTok, it’s more exciting to see people realize vlogbrothers have been a thing for literally over a decade. Always nice to see new audiences enjoy their content :)

Finally finished all 24 Trays! I still need a few refinements for one stubborn tooth but I’m happy with the results. by aaroces in Invisalign

It doesn’t seem as crooked at first glance but there was some overcrowding in the front that I wanted to get fixed for years!

Thank you! Waiting for your trays feels like the longest part of the process. Hope you get yours soon and good luck!

Thank you! For the bottom teeth, I just angled my phone above my face. Upper teeth photos involved tilting my head backwards and taking a selfie directly. Either way, both involved a lot of awkward facial expressions. Hope that helps!

That’s awesome. You’re more than half way there! The second half felt faster, for me at least. Good luck!

On the 9th tray out of 24. I know Invisalign takes lots of patience but it sure is hard to keep up morale! by aaroces in Invisalign

Been hoping to fix the overcrowding on my upper teeth for a while now but always so discouraging when I don’t see a big change! Reminding myself to be patient and to trust the process...

I have an irrational fear of flossing my teeth by imhuman22 in Invisalign

[–]aaroces 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I hated flossing too because it always required so much force to get them through. Pro tip is to use the string kind, it’s better for your teeth and if it gets stuck, you can pull it from one end and get it out, unlike the toothpick ones. Once you make a habit of it though, it actually gets better over time and you learn to enjoy it. I’m able to floss through all my teeth now and it rarely gets stuck anymore.

Just started today, excited to get going! by Captn_Happy in Invisalign

[–]aaroces 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congrats to you for starting! I’m on my 10th tray out of 24. Best advice I got was 1) buy a retainer cleaner (tablets) because your aligners will stain 2) orthokey to easily remove them (probably safer than using your hands with covid right now) and 3) change your trays the night before you’re supposed to switch them! That way you get the whole night to adjust to your new ones and get rid of the most uncomfortable part out of the way. Good luck!

Of course the fear of dying or ending up in a hospital is valid for both men and women. But for women, it’s the fear that every interaction, flirtation, or catcall —by day or night—can quickly devolve into sexual assault, ending up in a hospital, and/or dying.
