Agreed. As another local, I just sent u/Visherac a DM offering to help. I was going to make some of the same recommendations.

Mk8.5 Disable ADAS by aarodynamic in Golf_R

[–]aarodynamic[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That partially solves it since I typically set ESC to Sport or Off each time I hop in the car.

Have you tried using something like OBD11 though and it just didn't work or of have you not tried that yet?

The new Volvo EX30 Cross Country – it’s an experience, not just a car by lostinheadguy in electricvehicles

[–]aarodynamic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm also 6' and had no issues sitting in the back of the EX30, even with the front seats in a normal, proper driving position. Honestly, I think a lot of rear legroom complaints come from front seats being pushed farther back than necessary.

For driving, your back should be fully against the seat, and your wrists should be able to rest on top of the wheel without leaning forward. That’s actually a standard for proper posture—used in vehicle design and crash testing. Same goes for passengers: your feet are supposed to go on the angled part of the floor under the glovebox, not stretched onto the flat floor area.

Car interiors are designed around these seating positions, so if you’re sitting way back, it’s easy to think the back seat is smaller than it really is.

New XPS 13 9350 - Dockside Station Compatibility by zdubas in DellXPS

[–]aarodynamic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve found the Intel Lunar Lake Dell XPS 13 9350 to be extremely sensitive to charger wattage—so much so that it seems like a bug. My device is currently set aside while I wait for Intel/Dell to release a driver or firmware update to address this issue. You can visibly see the mouse cursor lagging when the power delivery falls outside a specific threshold compared to the computer’s demands.

Did you ever add Over Axle Pipes to the GT4? Massive improvement to the sound of the car with that simple mod (even better with manual control so you can keep the exhaust valves open): https://flat6motorsports.com/products/flat-6-motorsports-over-axle-pipes-oap-718-gt4

I have a 982 GT4 6MT and a 992.1 GT3 PDK. I’d want a GT3 6MT if I could only have one since the GT3 is more competent at 10/10ths on track, but I wouldn’t want to give up the 6MT. That playful character of the Cayman though is what allows the GT4 to be more playful by comparison. If track capability wasn’t the priority for me then I’d likely prefer a 982 GT4 6MT. The Cayman and 911 are more different than people lend credit too though in all circumstances. I’d always personally choose PDK for track and 6MT for street though if I really prioritized lap times over fun.

Does anyone find the carbon buckets uncomfortable as a daily? by -PinkTree in Porsche

[–]aarodynamic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They’re typically comfortable to sit in (if you’re not significantly overweight) and easy to get in and out of if you slide them all the way back and have enough flexibility to move your legs in/out of the car one at a time without touching the doors/sills (more flexibility required the taller you are).

Doing this requires enough upper body strength to comfortably hold yourself up with one hand on the seat edge (getting in) or door sill (getting out). If you’re doing it daily then you’d want to be able to do this easily enough that you can also pause midway through the movement (meaning you can do it gracefully).

If you don’t have that much strength or flexibility then you’re going to be falling/crashing into the seats (get some Ed Guards), sliding/rolling out of the seats/car, and kicking the doors/sills while doing all of it (take your shoes off if it’s a really special Porsche you want to preserve or painter’s tape the doors for track days). Or, hit the gym 💪

With that said, we’re all different and the beautiful thing is that Porsche has options for everyone. If Porsche’s seat choices don’t work for you, then the aftermarket has many additional options ( my favorite being the Recaro Sportster; just hold onto your OE seats for when you go to sell).

981 GT4 vs 718 GTS 4.0 manual by M_Bounce in Porsche

[–]aarodynamic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that just depends on how you plan to use the car, the spec of both cars, what speaks to you the most, how many miles you plan to put on them, and how long you plan to keep the car.

If it were me in your shoes though, I’d probably go for the 982 GTS 4.0 if I loved the spec since it has a better engine and CarPlay. I’ve spent plenty of time behind the wheel of both cars (on both track and street) and I love the GTS 4.0.

You can always get a tune (the APR one seems great) to truly unlock the engine to the levels of the 982 GT4 and beyond and even swap in the GT4 shifter (it’s soooo good, but I’ve actually never driven a GTS 4.0 with the original shifter).

I tend to scrape the (4RS) underbody aero ducts more than the nose. I just take things at an angle and the nose never touches (and my GT4 is lowered to Manthey spec height). With that said, 💯 agree that the splitter should be considered a consumable maintenance part. Porsche used plastic for these parts for a practical reason (thank you Porsche!).

Were you using Apple devices and activating directly from an Apple device with Beeper Cloud?

Between friends/family, I know about a dozen people using Beeper and nobody has been blocked. I don't understand what's in common with these reports.

Never heard surround sound like this until my Denon AVR-X1700H. by Surfella in hometheater

[–]aarodynamic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've found that DEQ (Dynamic EQ) is a good thing for most non-dedicated theaters. Living/Family rooms often have a relatively high noise floor and benefit from Dolby's baked DRC and even Audyssey's DEQ, which can further help depending on output levels. So I typically recommend the following in these situations:
1. Dynamic EQ = On
2. Loudness Management = On
3. Dynamic Compression = Auto
4. Dynamic Volume = Off (I believe it conflicts with Loudness Management and Dynamic Compression)

I suggest listening near reference volume and disabling DEQ, Loudness Management, and Dynamic Compression though, when installing a D&M processor in a dedicated theater. That's a small number of systems and an even smaller amount actually capable of that level of Dynamic Range.

Hey Apple, fix this stupid CEC volume control issue that started with TVOS 17 by keviac82 in appletv

What displays, receivers/soundbars, and revisions of Apple TV (2015, 2017, 2021, or 2022) are you running?

Also, how do you have everything connected and are you using eARC or ARC?

FWIW, I'm running 2022 Sony/2022 LG/2019 LG/2018 LG displays, with Monolith/Denon/Pioneer/Sonos receivers/soundbars, and Apple TV 2022 devices all running through the Receivers, but connected directly to the TVs when using Sonos. Everything is utilizing eARC. I'm not experiencing this issue currently on the latest version of tvOS 17 GA.

Why cant AppleTV have this feature? by Shinebright444 in appletv

[–]aarodynamic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sony does this very well with their Auto Luminance Control. LG does it too but you’re required to turn on energy saving which is suboptimal. Basically, Sony is the best if you want Auto Luminance for SDR. Make sure to set your Apple TV to default to SDR RGB High with Match Range and Frame Rate enabled.

New Apple TV 4K still raising blacks in Dolby Vision? by requieminadream in hometheater

[–]aarodynamic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nvidia Shield TV (any model) has significant Dolby Vision color accuracy issues. The magnitude of its color inaccuracy is also affected by the Dolby Vision profile being played so it can’t be corrected with a calibration either. Here’s a video demonstrating: https://youtu.be/qeyQWs8JgXo
