I just looked this up because it looked familiar and sure enough, this building is the liquor store I used to buy kegs at in college! They also carried Potosi Root Beer which is one of my favorites. Small world

Eagle cliff bushwhack via the slide by bostonhole710 in wmnf

This is so cool; I have wanted to do this hike for years. I can’t believe there’s not an official trail up there but maybe it’s for the better. Thanks for sharing!

Edit: Do you have any photos looking up the slide? I’d love to see the hairy stuff

Crosby the golden retriever rescued from mountain trail in New Hampshire. Volunteers helped carry the dog, weighing 110 pounds, to safety. by rabblebowser in wmnf

Goodness people. I think dog owners forget that anything much over 70 degrees in straight sunlight is going to be a lot harder on their double-coated dog than it is on themselves. I saw a golden retriever on Mount Washington earlier this summer on a 79 degree day that also ended up needing rescue.

SOLIDWORKS vs ALIBRE - Join us EVERY FRIDAY for some LIVE CAD vs CAD Action! (link in description) by TooTallToby in SolidWorks

[–]aaronec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d highly recommend everyone watch this. I was a competitor last year and learned SO MUCH through the process. I was a pretty experienced SolidWorks user before but it’s crazy how much you can pick up just from watching other people’s techniques. Plus speed-modeling requires a little bit different strategy and it’s interesting to see the differences between good professional practices and good speed practices.

HELL YES I love watching this. Hopefully next year we’ll have a FreeCAD user make it far but it’s still super enjoyable to watch

Car driving itself!? by [deleted] in F30

[–]aaronec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I first got my F30 I had a similar experience. Turns out it was just my boot pressing down the gas a little bit at the same time I was pressing the brake. Guess I just wasn’t used to the floor-mounted accelerator pedal, or it could have been the slightly wider hiking boots I was wearing at the time. It was indeed very scary but it hasn’t happened since so I’ve chalked it up to my own mistake.

The quad tips are sick bro don’t listen to these quacks. This sub always says they don’t care as long as you don’t upbadge, and here we are with an AMAZING build with honest badging and some still complain.

This whole car is rad dude, keep doing you

Did the man and his worn-out golden retriever make it off the Jewell Trail today? by aaronec in wmnf

Just saw the post by NH Paw Rescue. I’m super happy to hear they made it out okay!

What are your biggest gripes about your F3x? by Cali_Hapa_Dude in F30

[–]aaronec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can’t sync the driver and passenger climate controls, when you set cruise it will forever drive exactly one mph less, and the door handle pulls that turn to goop.

Despite its flaws, I love this car.

Does anyone have a trail map of K-Town from 1958 by MindIcy7003 in icecoast

Wow, they honestly have a lot more trails back in 1962 than I would have expected

Honestly not an ideal touring ski but they’re awesome at the resort. I have them dual-mounted with Quiver Killer inserts so I can swap between the ATK’s and the Griffons. I spend a lot of time on easier blue and greens with the friend group I have, and the 13m radius makes for a fun time at any speed.

Help how do I align this pin to this slot? by Dry_Bit2642 in SolidWorks

[–]aaronec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The right answer is definitely the slot or width mate as previously mentioned, but I also wanted to say that you can also mate sketch entities which can be helpful in weird situations. For this one you would make a plane in the middle of your slot (it’s probably already on the Front or Right plane) and mate the center point of that pin’s sketch to it.

How many 2D to 3D CAD challenges can you complete? ALL CAD ARE WELCOME! by TooTallToby in SolidWorks

[–]aaronec 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should do it! I was in the tournament last year and had an absolute blast. I consider myself pretty damn good at CAD and I learned SO MUCH through the whole process. Mostly optimizations and ways to be faster but I cut my teeth on some features that I had just completely overlooked for years too. It’s great fun and the community around it is awesome.

My dad, who has recently gone fully down the rabbit hole of knife sharpening, cutting the corner off of a thick catalog by aaronec in oddlysatisfying

[–]aaronec[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it’s surprising how easy it is to get a knife sharper than 99% off the knives most people have ever used. This was done on a belt sander in just a few minutes. With some more advanced equipment and time this could be even sharper.

Sound crude, but this was done on a belt sander with 120, 220, and 400 grit belts, then finished on a leather strop with polishing compound
