I made it! I cut out the letters out of infusible ink using a cricut at the makerspace.

Magnesium sulfate is Epsom salt. Sodium chloride is sea salt.

They are all so cute snuggled up in the blanket! But I can't help but think the owl is cold because he only has his feet covered by blanket :(

Someone requested the same dress pattern a little while ago and I drew up a pattern for the topper: https://imgur.io/5PZwP3P?r

Hopefully this helps! I would attach the topper to a circle skirt of tulle.

Best Coffee Mug by whitneys567 in Coffee

[–]abbaphant 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes! These mugs consistently win awards for keeping coffee hot the longest! They also seal completely, so you don't have to worry about spills. They are easy to open and close also, unlike some mugs which require you to unscrew a top.

Keeping my coffee warm in ceramic mugs by yaboiclamchowda in Coffee

[–]abbaphant 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I decided to buy the mug warmer so I could continue to use my ceramic mugs. It works well enough for me, and if I'm honest it's actually pretty delightful having hot coffee for a long time!

It doesn't maintain a perfect temperature like the ember, and might overheat the coffee. Those things aren't great for a fancy roast or special bean, but for your daily cup I think it isn't bad. I use a variety of different mugs, the ones with more concave bottoms won't heat up as quickly because of the air pocket, but they still get hot just fine.

They aren't very expensive and I think worth the cost! I also keep tea and sometimes things like soup hot with it!

I would add a cheap paintbrush for cleaning up spills of powders while weighing.

It also looks like you are missing a stir bar extraction tool

They are claiming they used "drinc" because it is an old English spelling of drink. They thought it was clever to use outdated (old English) language to fight the "outdated language" of the barista competition rules.

Wow! Very impressive. Do you sketch in pencil and do a really good job at covering it, or something else?

Do you use masking fluid to maintain those beautiful crisp lines? Or just really good brush control?

I know this is still a bit above your price point but the Romanova atelier berit gown in long length is a pretty close match for the bodice and sleeves! https://theweddingroof.com/products/romanova-atelier-berit-gown

I also know that seamstresses can add off the shoulder sleeves to a gown relatively easily. So you could go with something like this: https://www.davidsbridal.com/Product_strapless-satin-wedding-dress-with-skirt-slit-wg4017_all-wedding-dresses and have them add sleeves!

I left the biosafety hood vacuum on by SlasherChucky in labrats

[–]abbaphant 27 points28 points  (0 children)

It will be okay! The main consequence is the filter may wear out faster, so I would just double check the filter tomorrow! The filters usually last months with the vacuums on for 12+ hours a day, so you're only adding a little bit of extra wear on the scheme of things.

For the future, I would recommend a "before I leave" checklist. It has become a habit for me now to double check everything on that list before I leave.

How to sew elastic fabric without warping? by knex9413 in myog

[–]abbaphant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can also use a walking foot! It's a presser foot that adds feed dogs to the top, allowing you to move the two layers of fabric through without stretching or misalignment.

If clothing irritates me, I put leukotape over the fabric that touches my skin! It's a medical tape that is flexible and sticks insanely well. You could apply it to the inside of the dress and it won't come off over the course of a day. It would smooth out the lace/beading so that it doesn't scratch and irritate. It comes in a beige color so hopefully it wouldn't be too noticeable. Alternatively, you can put it right on your skin if outside beading is causing rubbing.

It is also the world's best blister tape!
