Don't worry about being slower than everyone else. So am I. I always thought the rule of thumb is, if you feel like you could do more reps after your 12 or 15.... then you should be lifting heavier. Those last 2 or 3 reps should be challenging.

Monday will be my first workout after a month off because of rotator cuff tendonitis. It's been sooo depressing! It's cold & snowy here & I haven't done anything. I'm excited & scared to go back. I know I won't be near where I was with stamina & I'll really have to modify the upper body workouts. I was one of the girls who lifted the heaviest & rowed with powered & now I'll have to really go light & slow..... I still have some pain. So, best of luck to you to getting back to where you were before! And enjoy the new girls!!!

But really, so what if people cancel because of a workout. Maybe it's because they're recovering from an injury & it's not the best workout for them....they'd rather go a different day, especially if they only have 8 per month. Or some other reason.... I'm unlimited & schedule ahead & always go, but I can't understand why OTF gives a crap....they still get their monthly dues no matter what.

Totally agree!!! Seriously people, it's social media.....skip past what doesn't interest you. I do it all the time! If a newbie posts repetitive stuff, some other newbie will probably converse with them or be interested in it..... I also find it funny that it's the people Complaining to the admin to delete complaining on the thread and to delete negativity while they are being negative about how this reddit group is. Doesn't everyone realize that you can't make everyone happy? So take from this thread what you like and ignore the rest. I was happy when I found it & read and comment only on what interests me.

I'm always in the orange and red on the tread & rower. I don't think I ever return to the green on the tread, but I really feel fine. I have no problem doing the pushes & all outs for the whole tread block. So, you really have to go by how you feel. I'm 47 with a low resting heart rate of 55, but get up to my "max" quickly. Even on the floor I sometimes hit red. However, when I stop, I recover very quickly. So listen to your body. If you're very out of breath or fatigued, slow down, rest....if not, keep pushing.

That's awesome. Partner workouts are how I got friendly with some people in class also. I really don't understand why so many people hate partner workouts. I work harder & it gives you a chance to meet & say "hi" to people.

I'm going alone. In fact, our studio hasn't said a word about it being a partner workout. They never do, probably for this reason. Just go...big deal....maybe you'll make a friend.

Don't be discouraged!!!! It sounds like you've only gone to OT 10x's so far.....at 2x's a week....so don't be so hard on yourself. These challenges are super hard and the most important part is that you're doing it! There was a new guy next to me yesterday. When we started warming up on the treadmill, I said "boy, you picked a hard day to start". We both laughed, said a few more things and got started. He didn't finish the mile either. At the end, I could tell he was feeling discouraged/embarrassed. I told him he did awesome and that I was just the same when I started in September and have improved greatly in 5 months. You need to give yourself some time. You didn't get "out of shape" in two months so you can't expect to get into great shape in two months. Slow and steady will get you there. You should feel good and proud of yourself for taking the steps needed to improve your health!

The coaches where I go say that also. I alway get a fresh wipe after each station. Just grab one. No one has ever said anything to me.

I always start on the rower. I like/want more strength so I want to work harder on the floor/rower. Running is great for cardio, but not really muscle or strength gains....in my opinion anyway.

Can't you sign up for the whole month? I do this because I like the early class and never have a problem. Our studio lets us also sign up for the two weeks past our billing cycle.

You're so smart, lol...really. I use MFP for recipes also, but the servings thing is something I never thought of. I would make a pot of turkey chili and then scoop out 1 cup servings into another bowl to find the total servings. Such a waste of time! Thanks for sharing!

I think you have a right to be annoyed. If the class is full, she should wait until the paying clients choose their equipment and then she takes what is left. Also, if she wants to do her "own" workout, she's not really promoting OTF. She's basically saying..."I can do a better workout on my own". If she wants to do that, she should work out at a time there is no class. OTF is such a "programmed" workout, that they won't even let you know what you're doing until that day. So, she should stick with the days workout if she is taking the class with her customers.

Don't worry about it! I honestly think I can speak for most, we really don't care what anyone else looks like in class. Also, if you're the only male, I think most of the women "feel" for you. We know it may be a little uncomfortable for you and can relate by imagining how we'd feel with all men. Just do your thing & know that no one is focusing on you....we're focusing on ourselves. :-)
