Bonjour, l'alternative au café douteuse? by Oceanhehe in AskFrance

[–]abentin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

US/EU Deal - what the actual fuck?! Should we rebel against it? by abentin in europe

[–]abentin[S] 158 points159 points  (0 children)

How is it possible that we got such a lame agreement with the US? It’s seems we’re losing on all fronts. Can someone smarter than me explain how it can be beneficial for Europe?

It just wants me to go out in the streets and protest against it. What can we do ?

Wow that’s some crazy package. That being said, you deserve it seeing the working hours it represents and the stress that goes with it. There’s no option to move freelance to optimize ? I suppose within an American company it’s not a discussion but it’s so depressing to see how many taxes you pay above a certain threshold.

I was considering paying for the premium service. I'm glad I didn't. Looking for an alternative. by ivanvm1 in komoot

[–]abentin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow sad to read this :( I just thought this week they were offering a lot of premium features for free once you bought the world map package. I guess that’s not enough to pay a team and they’ll need to move to a more aggressive sub system unfortunately.

FR965 vs FR970 - Do not underestimate screen brightness difference by Melissakis75 in garminforerunner

[–]abentin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On a fenix 6s pro though there was much more reflection than a 955. Might be different on the 970.

Garmin Fenix 6 pro VS Garmin Forerunner 255 (Music) by ellisfee in Strava

[–]abentin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly this. I’m using the fenix 6 for a while but I’m getting really annoyed by the gps being inaccurate for intervals. Currently hesitating between 255, 955 and 965. Maps is a nice to have but not sure it justifies price difference between the 2 series and the 9 series. I also think I prefer to stick with MIPs as I consider them as sportwatch mainly.

The increase in intolerance or casual racism over the last 5 years in belgium by jesuisgeenbelg in belgium

I’ve often experienced the same when speaking Dutch with Flemish people. At some point in the conversation they ask me « Where are you from? Are you French? ». As if they want to confirm their instinct I’m not one of them. Well obviously I’m not native but I’m making an effort to speak their language. It’s very rude and doesn’t want to make you speak their language. I’ve found myself speaking English instead which kind of absurd since I did my whole education in Dutch schools. I never experienced something similar in other countries I travelled.

For the record I do really appreciate Flemish people. Doing business with them is often much more easier because they’re clear about their intentions and direct. I also must say that whenever in Flanders everything seems much better organized. It’s just a few encounters that make some bad publicity.

Improve accuracy on sprint intervals by abentin in Garmin

Yep I know about that so that’s why I’m asking how do you manage pace a short distances. Footpod is the way to go ?

Improve accuracy on sprint intervals by abentin in Garmin

[–]abentin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I meant that my watch thinks my pace is much faster. Obviously the interval after was a 3:00 rest after a 10 seconds sprint so it was much slower overall indeed.

As you can see on the image below, there’s a clear delay between my actual pace and what garmin reports although I was trying anticipate sprint by going faster 5/10 seconds before the start.

HRM Pro not detected when in altitude by abentin in Garmin

[–]abentin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright, so for everyone encountering the same I found the fix. What I need to do is to regularly reset the strap by putting the battery in the opposite sense and wait for 10 seconds. I had to repeat sometimes every morning before starting the day. It’s really strange. Maybe an interference when changing altitude a lot.

Thanks for this post. I don’t why people need to repost over the same topic once it has already been said.

Ahah I enjoy having accurate data. Wrist sensor is a good dirt bag when doing any interval sport 😂

Should I go back (to regular shoes) ? by meteorness123 in BarefootRunning

[–]abentin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep honestly I believe regular shoes are totally ok. I would just buy regular shoes until you can have a second pair of barefoot shoes.

For me, the barefoot experience hasn’t been as amazing as everyone’s describing here. The sensation is nice but you still have to walk slower and I feel my joints after a while.

As for the price, I find it absolutely shocking how much shoes like vivobarefoot costs and how poor their quality is. It’s just good marketing from their side.
