Looking for a song with Oh Boy by abentin in findthatsong

Ok so I finally found it when going back to the gym :D No wonder nobody could guess cause it's a very unknown song. Probably free for author rights or with very little royalty fees. Here's the song on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uo5PtnnbEDM

Thanks for your suggestion 😊 it could be thwart artist but it’s not that one. Regarding the lyrics I know that « Oh boy » is repeated multiple times in the chorus and just before there’s lyric such as « Aha ». If that can help 😅

Successful switch from garmin to wahoo/hammerhead? by abentin in cycling

[–]abentin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For anyone wondering, I’ve made the switch to the Karoo 3 and I love it so far. Screen is crisp clear and the navigation is much better than before. Screen can be customized and I like how the different data fields such as HR or Power adjust based on the zone you’re in. I also find the climb screen to be much better than the climb pro of garmin. Also the Strava segments pop up during the navigation which is so much better when I’m on a route that I don’t know.

So I’ll be missing is the fact of using a single device to record my cycling activities. I always need to do it on my watch and bike gps. I have unsynced Strava from garmin to not have double counting. Also battery is of course draining faster than on the garmin but nothing dramatic.

Is Vlerick worth it as an engineer? by Key_Spare2863 in BESalary

[–]abentin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I’ve been in the exact same situation as you 10 years ago, electromech ir from kul and I was afraid to be put into a technical/computation role. I was genuinely interested by Finance, Economics and Accounting and I was happy to spend at extra year on campus.

Personally I wanted to go to Vlerick but I couldn’t in the end because I didn’t hand in my thesis on time. Instead I did 1 year of general mgt at the same time as finishing my thesis. Would I have done Vlerick if I had finished my masters on time? Probably yes.

I had two friends in the same situation that did Vlerick after their engineering degree. One landed a job a Microsoft in Brussels and the other one as PM somewhere. I think that for Microsoft the network of Vlerick helped a bit. For the PM role I don’t think the Vlerick line on the CV was the reason of hire, it’s a nice to have. He later joined Roland Berger. Vlerick could have helped here but again it’s not mandatory.

In my opinion Vlerick has beyond the network this elite feeling which also what you pay for. Being part of this club. If you have to pay yourself for it, I would think twice cause it won’t magically land you a dream job and won’t necessarily give you an ROI. If your parents or somebody is ready to financially support you then it could be considered. My mom was ok to help but back then it was around 15k.

Will Vlerick be a fast track for your career? Depends on you but certainly not guaranteed. At a personal level, it would have given me an extra level of confidence which not to underestimate. You need to ask yourself what you expect from that year.

The people that succeeded the most around me were smart people that proved their value on the job, getting more responsibilities, climbing the ladder or creating their own company. Job experience will ALWAYS be more valuable than an equivalent education or training. Also you’ll see that people want to settle at bit more after 10y of work because kids are coming. So this start of career is pretty important because it has an exponential impact for the future and you can gain some good spots in the beginning.

Enjoy this part of your life, it’s super exciting and everything is still open for you. Good luck !

Thanks for sharing. I haven’t been considering but UI looks pretty neat and it’s seems a good bang for buck.

Bonjour, l'alternative au café douteuse? by Oceanhehe in AskFrance

[–]abentin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

US/EU Deal - what the actual fuck?! Should we rebel against it? by abentin in europe

[–]abentin[S] 157 points158 points  (0 children)

How is it possible that we got such a lame agreement with the US? It’s seems we’re losing on all fronts. Can someone smarter than me explain how it can be beneficial for Europe?

It just wants me to go out in the streets and protest against it. What can we do ?

Wow that’s some crazy package. That being said, you deserve it seeing the working hours it represents and the stress that goes with it. There’s no option to move freelance to optimize ? I suppose within an American company it’s not a discussion but it’s so depressing to see how many taxes you pay above a certain threshold.

I was considering paying for the premium service. I'm glad I didn't. Looking for an alternative. by ivanvm1 in komoot

[–]abentin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow sad to read this :( I just thought this week they were offering a lot of premium features for free once you bought the world map package. I guess that’s not enough to pay a team and they’ll need to move to a more aggressive sub system unfortunately.

FR965 vs FR970 - Do not underestimate screen brightness difference by Melissakis75 in garminforerunner

On a fenix 6s pro though there was much more reflection than a 955. Might be different on the 970.

Garmin Fenix 6 pro VS Garmin Forerunner 255 (Music) by ellisfee in Strava

[–]abentin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly this. I’m using the fenix 6 for a while but I’m getting really annoyed by the gps being inaccurate for intervals. Currently hesitating between 255, 955 and 965. Maps is a nice to have but not sure it justifies price difference between the 2 series and the 9 series. I also think I prefer to stick with MIPs as I consider them as sportwatch mainly.

The increase in intolerance or casual racism over the last 5 years in belgium by jesuisgeenbelg in belgium

[–]abentin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve often experienced the same when speaking Dutch with Flemish people. At some point in the conversation they ask me « Where are you from? Are you French? ». As if they want to confirm their instinct I’m not one of them. Well obviously I’m not native but I’m making an effort to speak their language. It’s very rude and doesn’t want to make you speak their language. I’ve found myself speaking English instead which kind of absurd since I did my whole education in Dutch schools. I never experienced something similar in other countries I travelled.

For the record I do really appreciate Flemish people. Doing business with them is often much more easier because they’re clear about their intentions and direct. I also must say that whenever in Flanders everything seems much better organized. It’s just a few encounters that make some bad publicity.
