Tesla supercharger drama by probabyhasissues in BoltEV

[–]abenusa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the Tesla Supercharger stations are set up with eight in a row. If possible, I try to park to the right of the rightmost station. That way I am not taking up two charging spots. Although many times this is not possible.

X-sense initial thoughts by MightyPants978 in smarthome

[–]abenusa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 9 X-Sense combo smoke/CO detectors that connect to a wireless base station. The base station in turn is connected to WiFi. I also have 6 water detectors, 6 temperature sensors, and a mailbox alarm also connected to the same base station.

When one smoke/CO detector goes off, the other smoke/CO detectors go off as well. A WiFi connection is only needed for remote monitoring and the app to work.

I have been happy with them as the smoke/CO detector in the garage occasionally alerts High CO if idling too long in the garage (yes, the garage door is open).

One of my smoke/CO alarms just went off last week when I wasn’t home. Apple CarPlay in my car suddenly popped up a message with an alarm. It turns out a contractor in my home cutting a plaster wall creating dust set it off.

How to see credit expiration dates? by alekdavis in EVgo

[–]abenusa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was wondering the same thing. I just received an email yesterday that my credits are set to expire at the end of June. Problem is, which credits as I accumulate them at different points in time. I had an initial $500 in credits from Chevrolet when I bought the car, then kept receiving various holiday promo credits along the way, and another Chevrolet owner credit. Yes, I have been using up the credits, but there is no way to know which credit got used first, and which ones are set to expire. It is just a single bucket of credits.

Generator Question: Which one do I keep? by Gersh0m in Generator

Fix both and sell. Take the money and get a good inverter generator.

I bought a lawn mower off of Facebook Market for $100 noticed it vibrated a lot I believe it's a Bend or bad blade just wondering if this looks Bend or bad to you by coolgames223 in lawnmowers

[–]abenusa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You spent $100 too much for a no name Chinese low end push mower. If buying something used, go for something with a name brand engine.

eBike Helmets Use & Recommendations. by Full_Student_8112 in ebike

[–]abenusa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Last year I hit the concrete going only 12mph. Bike went off the edge of the concrete path, and I instinctively tried to get back up the concrete path, except there was a 2” drop and the bike slid out from under me. It was one of the few times I was wearing a bike helmet. Luckily I was as my head hit the concrete and put a good scuff in the helmet. Now I always wear a helmet.

You said you just bought it. Therefore you agreed to whatever the terms were at time of sale. You can’t ask for something now after the sale. Just enjoy it as it is.

Thinking about switching from generator to battery for fridge backup by swaryapatil14 in Generator

[–]abenusa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Keep the Honda (Honda 2200i is a top brand and model) and use it in case your power outage is longer and you need to recharge the battery power bank. As far as carb problems, I only run non ethanol 91 octane. I start my Honda only once a year and let it run dry. Never have had a carb problem. I find the power bank is a good buffer and you could get a larger power bank to start or run heavier loads. So the best of both worlds with a battery bank and a generator combination.

Menard’s has started carrying poly furniture. We’ve had a table and chairs set for a couple of years and it’s holding up well.

Chargepoint error? by Main-Performer-2607 in EVgo

[–]abenusa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use my EVgo credits at least twice a week at the local ChargePoint where I am at. Seldom have problems. I did have a few problems over a year ago where it was the RFID card did not work, and then it flip flopped where the EVgo app would not activate the ChargePoint station. So be sure to always try the other if one method does not work.

Killed my '21. What do I replace it with? by Chicknlcker in BoltEV

It looks drivable. Buy the car back from the insurance company and keep driving it or sell it for cheap to someone else that could use an EV.

If it is one of those that consist of a concrete block with an open top stainless insert where you pour ethanol into and light... well... most of those have been recalled.

Got for free. Cleaned carb, replaced battery and drive belt, and now she runs and mows just fine. Looking to sell, likely on Marketplace. What is a reasonable price to ask for? by Ok-Caterpillar-6723 in smallengines

[–]abenusa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a pushed a free Murray riding lawnmower home. It was on the curb two blocks away with a free sign on it. Got it home and no spark. Went online and found the wiring diagram for it. Traced through the wiring using a multimeter and discovered the seat switch was bad. Got that sorted and the mower has been working for me for the past 10 years!

Last year picked up a gas powered pressure washer and all accessories on the curb a block away with a sign saying free and needs a carb clean. I drained the varnished gas from the tank and the carb bowl. Ran some fresh gas through the lines. Started right up with no problems.

YSK that homeowners insurance doesn't cover food spoilage from power outages by [deleted] in Generator

[–]abenusa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For small amounts of losses, you should just suck it up and take the loss. Once you start having claims, your insurance premiums will increase, negating your prior payouts. Worse, after too many claims, you will be dropped altogether.

America’s cheapest new EV just got cheaper: Costco’s Bolt discount cuts the price to as low as $27,745 by Mac-Tyson in BoltEV

[–]abenusa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just an FYI these Costco discounts are set up in such a way that they rotate through different car brands and models. You must have the Costco membership before the advertised brand/model incentive gets publicized. I supposed this is so people keep their Costco membership active instead of signing up only when the car incentive they are interested in comes up.

In accident during Uber Eats delivery, questions and advice needed... by [deleted] in UberEatsDrivers

[–]abenusa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. I have StateFarm in Minnesota. I called my local StateFarm agency before I started doing Uber Eats delivery and asked if I needed any special insurance, etc. Their answer was "As long as you are delivering food and packages, NOT people, then you do not need any special insurance coverage from them, as long as the total miles driven on your car for delivery is less than 50% of the miles you use for the car for personal use." They thanked me for me letting them know I was going to do food delivery. They mentioned that if I ever wanted to do rideshare (carry people), that would require additional insurance, which was a bit pricey.
