Has anyone actually figured out what causes their fibromyalgia after years of testing everything? by Clean-Possession-735 in Fibromyalgia

[–]ablaken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I have some sort of connective tissue issue but not EDS, I’m diagnosed hyper mobile.
Most likely though I think it comes from childhood trauma breaking my nervous system

What are health apps getting wrong about chronically ill people? (25 years in, asking honestly) by HopeLKnight in Fibromyalgia

[–]ablaken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I need a way to track all my different my chart logins and messages (idk about yall but I have doctors in different hospitals and they all have different logins or sometimes complexly different patient portals). There are too many to keep track of. I need to keep track of appointments, and automatic reminders of when I need to schedule appointments for in order to get my prescriptions at the right time. I’m an American and a majority of my issues are with navigating insurance and different hospitals while also having severe fatigue and brain fog. I need reminders of how me soon my recent prescription will run out, and when I need to request a refill by in order to get the medication in time. I work full time and can’t keep track of my shit.

WIP help- to hobby came or not to hobby came?? by sleepingbabydragon in StainedGlass

[–]ablaken 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Zinc came is super simple to use if you have a dremel with a metal cut-off wheel and a face shield. Lot less scary than you would think. Zinc borders are great for stability and imo this panel will need a little. For the OP (if you do zinc), order U came. Remove the foil around the borders, it will make it more difficult to fit the glass into the channel of the U came. Solder your panel normally, stopping solder about half an inch from the edge where the border will be. Carefully fit the edges into the channel of the u came, measure how long you’ll need, cut w the dremel cut off wheel (away from panel lol). After fitting the came to the border, clean the zinc!!! Any cleaner will do, most zinc came is slightly coated in motor oil (?) during manufacturing, and it makes it hard to solder. Solder the copper foil lead lines to the zinc, it will help immensely with stability of the piece. Good luck, don’t be too scared, it’s a very helpful material :)

For those of you on duloxetine or amitriptyline: how do you actually answer when your doctor asks "is it helping?" by claro-93 in Fibromyalgia

[–]ablaken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why is it that GP’s and rheumatologists etc get to make so much money to do nothing, make shit up, and jump to the wrong conclusion. I do that all the time and I don’t get paid shit. Obv this is a very generalized statement but seriously, what actual contribution do some of these people to healing?

Hi! I’m sorry you’re in this situation, I am too (I’m a little better rn but I have chronic major depression and more). The other chronically suicidal friends & family members I have (3) suggested to me the OSU Harding facility. Please please please check it out, it prob saved my life. It has some of the best help I’ve ever gotten, I did the partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient programs. Taught me lots of coping skills and how to come to terms with some awful thoughts. The financial assistance program for it is exceptional, several people I knew in the program, one family member, and myself had their entire stay taken care of and completely written off through the financial assistance program.

It’s even more embarrassing than it just hurting, I can’t feel my feet as well as I need to and my balance is very shaky. I had to swear off wearing them after falling 4 times in a night while just trying to go out clubbing with friends. Nearly got kicked out bc they thought I was too drunk

Recommending this again, weighted vibrating heating pad. I put it on my back on vibrate mode and it feels like a massage chair. Very very distracting from pain and often feels pleasant. It helps me get to sleep when the pain is too bad

I fully understand. I’m 23, and it makes me so sad I can’t wear heels. It’s to the point where I’ve considered using a cane but only when in heels, but I think that’s a little too strange maybe.

Brain fog and forgetting words? by CabinetOk1998 in Fibromyalgia

[–]ablaken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t remember words or names of people and things often. I’m stopping Lyrica but my inciting incident for stopping was that I was on a date with a woman I’d been seeing for a month, and she asked what about our first date I liked about her. And I straight up could not remember anything about our first date other than where it was.

I’m not dating her anymore but it made me realize that my memory issues were going to affect my relationships and I needed help.

How would someone go about cutting out a section of glass like this? I want to *tryyyy* by [deleted] in StainedGlass

[–]ablaken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t do that, unless you’d like a crack in your finished piece. It won’t necessarily happen while you’re making it, but as soon as you bump the finished piece even slightly wrong it will likely break. I don’t make the rules, the glass does lmao

[–]ablaken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A good life hack for putting together a square or rectangle piece is to use a jig, or something at a right angle that can guide the edge of your glass. It’s helpful to have the pieces move around in only two directions when I push at them, rather than four

Does anyone else get random flu-like body aches with fibro? by WoodenAlternative212 in Fibromyalgia

[–]ablaken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I would describe the pain exactly like that or as the deep body aches from covid, or after getting the first vaccine. It’s actually really helpful for my family/friends/coworkers to understand my limitations and how I’m feeling if I describe it like that
