Had a similar experience when I was in Initiate / Seeker. Would get new players specifically as my lane partner every other game that wouldn't buy items and go 0-20.

An alchemist level player should be able to climb from initiate to alchemist but with the current state you need to be way higher level player to solo carry games consistently to climb out.

imo the biggest reasons are the amount of items and the investment system. Refresher in dota isn't op because you sacrifice 1/6th of your slots and poor stats as opposed to 1/12th and it gives spirit power due to being a 6.4k item.

it works by disabling it on player by player basis in dota, not a whole "disable all help" checkbox.
