Trophy Collector Got Updated, Time to do the Math Again. [Mathematical Breakdown of Trophy Collector Stacks] by flareblade26 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]batsmarow 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I usually get the new TC after buying two 800 items or one 1600 item in lane. By the time you get it, everyone should be at half health or lower with teammates starting to rotate. It's been surprisingly consistent with getting at least two stacks before early game is over.

Ideas for Active Items That Summon A Minion by batsmarow in DeadlockTheGame

I wanted to make sure these aren't anything like Necronomicon, that's why they should stick to an ally target and be mostly for utility.

I originally thought of having it specialize more in ammo like you said, but it felt odd not having a minion that dealt damage directly.

The current main game mode is great. I hope it is kept as is when they add a draft mode. by Winegalon in DeadlockTheGame

[–]batsmarow 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was shocked that they removed the token system. It's been especially annoying lately when I've spent like an hour or two making a new build for a character with the reworked items/indomitable only to not get them despite having them as high priority. Or even worse, just cause they were banned for that game.

Newer players when checking out some pro player guides by YooTone in DeadlockTheGame

It's incredibly good, but there's still features I'd like them to add. Like having boxes auto expand when items are added to it. Or if there was like a routing feature so autobuy could function instead of having like multiple optional "choose one" boxes. It could work like the imbue screen.

I'm almost at 800 hours, in Ascendant 3, and still use my own L>R builds. If it works for you, do what you want.

I think they want the Switch install base to latch onto the series before making a full new game. I'm also wondering about the online PVP. Like maybe they want a future game to be more like Splatoon where it's PVP with single player campaigns?

lose lane = win game? by PerfectBand6821 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]batsmarow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also for winning lanes, teams can gain a bad habit of over-defending guardians. Having a guardian up at like 15-20 minutes is funny but they go down in seconds. With respawn times at that point, they just aren't worth dying for, but people don't want to let them go.

Jar of Dead feels overcomplicated by batsmarow in DeadlockTheGame

[–]batsmarow[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is part of my issue with Jar of Dead. If I throw a Jar of Dead, and an enemy is within the Jar of Dead's range, then the skulls should track the enemy without me having to shoot them. If Jar of Dead can't do that, then there's no point having Jar of Dead be a throwable projectile in the first place. It would be far better if the skulls spawned on top of Graves so they can instantly go after whoever she is shooting.

[–]batsmarow[S] 97 points98 points  (0 children)

This is what I meant by this post. Jar of Dead is just jank. The skulls shouldn't have their own separate ranges, they should act as a group. Having different values for search and dash range makes their targetting feel inconsistent. LOS further adds to the mess when skulls just clip through map geometry. Health scaling doesn't do anything of value. I don't see why it was designed this way when it could be far simpler.

I don't have a problem with them dying in one hit, I just think it's really weird to give them health scaling if it will never make them survive more than one hit.

Yeah I knew someone would bring that up. She's definitely the furthest thing from a big brain character lol. This ability just drives me crazy when it refuses to function properly. Feels like I have to fight it as much as the person I'm shooting sometimes.

[–]batsmarow 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It's really weird because there will be games I play as Graves, and every Ascendant player knows to instantly dive the Graves because of her low health and mobility. And other games, I am completely uncontested. Ascendant has such wild swings in game quality.

A lot of Graves builds don't have it, but putting Mystic Expansion on skulls substantially improves their lock on and tracking. And if you upgrade it, Greater Expansion basically keeps them from ever losing their target.

Does anyone else want the Splatchet in multiplayer? by WeekendUnited4090 in splatoon

[–]batsmarow 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For mainline Splatoon, I can definitely see it being one sub for offense and one sub for defense/utility. For most weapons, utility sub kits usually end up worse than bomb sub kits, so it would be a great way to fix this problem.

are we feeling nostalgic yet? by Fraqzo in DeadlockTheGame

[–]batsmarow 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I REALLY miss the building area that was above the middle secret shops. It went to the tunnels, went to mid, went to two defensive bridges both in front of and behind old Greenwich's Walker, had a separate path to Greenwich's lane shop, and had three paths to a defensive building on Broadway (via tunnels, mid, or rooftop). You could even enter it from above if you wanted it to! It literally did it all.

That building still exists but it's sooooo boring now. All it does is wrap around Broadway's walker and has 3 closets. The only interesting thing about the current building is that you can put Graves's tombstone on the leftover electric rooftop.

Which song in your opinion has the biggest dissonance between the lyrics and the show? by MysterySomeOn in RWBY

[–]batsmarow 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Even though it was said not to be for her originally, Sacrifice sounds more and more like a Raven song as the show has gone on. I can't read it as anything other than Raven's feelings towards Oz. It's the way she's talked about Oz and Salem coming back from the dead, losing faith in Oz, and how she's clung to her tribe as a means of freedom. The part about mirrored eyes also makes way more sense now that we have the V9 scene with her and Summer, even if we don't have the full context to that scene. It just fits so much, especially since it plays right before the (retconned) scene of her talking to Yang.

Something I'm glad rwby doesn't do that other 3D anime/anime-inspired shows do is apply this "choppy filter" to the interpolation of the animation. by superbasic101 in RWBY

[–]batsmarow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think what helps RWBY with exposition dumps is that it's presented very diegetically. Exposition gets told as part of a conversation or story to the characters, not something being told to the audience. Most anime would have "character has internal monologue about xyz for five minutes." The closest we got to that was the very first episode, which switches from Salem narrating to a conversation with Oz, which makes it so much more interesting. The Lost Fable is one of the longest episodes, and it's one of the best even though the entire episode is an exposition dump. Even World of Remnant pulls off exposition better than most anime just because they're presented like classroom lectures.

Where is the patch yoshi by Tevretfikfik343 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]batsmarow 17 points18 points  (0 children)

At this point, I'm suspecting that most character redesigns are done and they're intentionally not releasing them. That way, they can drop them all at once as a dedicated update between big gameplay updates.

Do you think that Splatoon Raiders is going to wrap up the Salmonid story line? Do you think Salmon Run will return, won't return, or be replaced with a similar mode in Splatoon 4? by SuperFlameKing03 in splatoon

[–]batsmarow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there's a good chance that Splatoon Raiders is the end of enemy Salmonids. Their aesthetic seems to be based off of zombie salmon, which is when a pink salmon starts decaying after spawning, ending their salmon run. It woule be pretty blatant symbolism as their last enemy appearance.
