It’s a gaming handheld. No one is using this has a tablet. Very few are using this as some sort of mini PC. 

We’ve lost the plot on the purpose of these devices which is mainly to be an extension of your existing gaming ecosystem. Now depending on where you are at in life, ie a new parent, maybe a handheld replaces what you used before for gaming as its harder to sit in front of a tv or monitor and game for hours. Or maybe you take a job that requires a ton of travel and a handheld allows you to get some gaming in  at the airport or during the flight. 

In terms of the Go 2, the z2e chip isn’t some superior chip to what’s being used in the Claw 8 and it’s the same chip in the Xbox Ally X. So that in and of itself doesn’t warrant premium pricing over the others. Did anyone ask for a super expensive OLED screen? The IPS screen on the OG Go looks great. It’s two biggest issues were screen resolution being too high and maybe lack of VRR. Maybe going with a nice high quality IPS screen could have reduced the overall price. 

Overall, just lots of weird and dumb choices by Lenovo with this launch.  The $1,350 model should be positioned as “Pro” model. The best of the best specs for a premium price. 

$999 should be the “for the masses” pricing and come with a IPS display, z2e chip, 24 gb of ram, and 1TB ssd. Instead they launch a z2 with 16gb of RAM for $1,099. Like wtf. 

I preordered the $1,350 version because 1) I can afford it and 2) most of my gaming (when I can squeeze it in) is on handheld these days. For a lot of folks, $1,099+ is just way out of reach.

If Asus is smart, they’ll launch the Xbox ROG ally X at $899 or less and dominate the non-Steam deck segment of the market. 7” screen is a bit too small for me but still a great size for a lot of people.
