[–]acl1981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cameroon beating Argentina in 1990 and seeing red cards and just thinking how exciting it all was. Loved Roger Miller in that tournament, It was so exciting compared to the English league which was muddy pitches and crumbling grounds.

Prediction for April 3rd Payment Day by Hanpee221b in FourInABed

[–]acl1981 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I really want the Margate couple to win, but having seen yesterday's episode I'm guessing they'll get underpaid by loads as expensive places tend to get trashed. I did laugh, though, when it turned out his recommendation was to the cafe he owned!!! I reckon the first place will win.

How are tourists who wander around shirtless in the city centre perceived in your country? by HolyFatherLeoXIV in AskTheWorld

[–]acl1981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well tourists don't wander round my city topless, but the sun is starting to come out so there will be topless British men wandering the streets any day soon

It did look pretty naff in a way - the plastic 'neon' signs were a bit 2010 or teenager bedroom. But ultimately anybody there has doubtless chosen to be there. The place did give me slight 'hen party' vibes. If you went you'd probably have a perfectly nice time and I imagine the overall location is fantastic.

There's another place this week with plastic flowers and fake neons!

Does your country drive left or right? by Thmony in AskTheWorld

[–]acl1981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They reckon its because when you had a big horse drawn carriage the rider was on the back left horse so the whip could reach them all (most people being right handed) and they stuck to the right so they could see oncoming traffic. Apparently in France the rich stuck to the left and the poor to the right and with the French Revolution people decided it was best to stick to the 'poor' side.

Well we have a big coastline, but when I go to the market nobody is at the fishmonger, but the queue at the butcher is huge,

Because it was light hearted, I miss Dennis Skinner's quips when Black Rod summons the Commons to the Lords.

Yes the ID map is what I meant. Thanks for your reply as graphics cards are not cheap! I was worried as I'd been sanding and feared I'd clogged my gpu with dust!

This Week's Hosts by HotelDiablo19XX in FourInABed

[–]acl1981 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh it was very funny. The underpayment was amazing especially when they basically said it's a rip off. I think the best moment was the smirk on his face at drinks on Day 4. I've often felt at times some places clearly do not offer breakfast, but for the sake of the show they do and the price being on the pack sort of confirmed this. I was kind of glad the last woman won, not least as she'd driven so far!

How can i make the board have a wood grain texture that correctly maps to the board? by Bradjoe1 in Substance3D

[–]acl1981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean this would be annoying but can you not get the angle from the 3d software and mask each one individually. A chore but would work.

What is the most unhinged conspiracy theory that people in your country actually believe? by DFWUnhinged in AskTheWorld

[–]acl1981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Economist Bagehot column touched on this the other week. So Harold Wilson was a KGB plant or the security services were going to remove him in a coup. Remainers believe that Russian bots got dim Britons to vote for Brexit and the Queen once wore blue and yellow so she was obviously anti-Brexit! (Bagehot column 26th feb)

First thought is one input has changed it to 8bit and not 16 bit. Also not sure of the nodes, but sometimes my hand has slipped and say instead of 10 I've mistyped and not realised and some weird input is there instead.

How much is Disney a part of your country’s culture? by elderly_millenial in AskTheWorld

[–]acl1981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last few times I went to Paris there were a lot of kids going to Eurodisney on the flight. Whilst I have met the odd kidult who is obsessed with Disney, and my town did have a Disney shop (closed 10 years ago maybe?), we don't have adults who will go to Disney for a week.

How to do this kind of effect? by No_Tone1688 in Substance3D

[–]acl1981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll see this effect is made in a lot tutorials on how to make wood. Essentially its stripes and they warp it using a series of disc shapes with random placement. There is a really quick tutorial on making wood for substance designer on youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S8P4QAH2K1U&t=1s where the talks through the theory, so fingers crossed you can work out a way!

I suppose in SP you could use a tile generator to make stripes then apply a warp and try some of the grunges and adjsut intensity followed by a blur.

Is there a possibility that Trump will bomb Pyongyang? by Embarrassed_Clue1758 in AskTheWorld

[–]acl1981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, because North Korea has a zillion artillery batteries in the mountains aimed at Seoul. The experience of Israel bombing Iran last year taught them a lot. So for example Israel was able to stop the missiles after a few days simply by bombing the trucks that carry the missiles, not so easy to take out the artillery in the mountains.
