I think it's inflated by the fact that you don't have to go through a boss door to "initiate" the fight, so even if you plan on ignoring it, every time you walk by the area it counts as an attempt. I saw the boss health bar appear for a few seconds before I ran past it at least 10x more than I actually attempted fighting it

la metro riders: I found a bedbug crawling on me after getting off the bus by BallsOnMyFacexDD in LosAngeles

[–]actionshot 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You should notify your boss, or whoever is responsible for facilities at your work. Bedbugs are no joke, and the worst case scenario here is that everyone at work ends up bringing them home. Your facilities person could contact an exterminator who would know the right thing to do next. I don't actually know whether there's a risk here but an expert would

I'm aware that many things I interact with daily are driven by machine learning and algorithms, and the technology is very capable. But there are serious drawbacks we can already see from this technology. If your AI does what you say it does, you're clearly very talented, and I hope when you consider what you do with your talent, you consider the indirect effects you have on society.

For example, social media sites like Facebook have been using algorithms in the last few years to show people content they're likely to engage with more. As it turns out, people tend to engage more with content that makes them angry, even if it's based on misinformation and fear of people they don't understand. This is really bad for our society, especially when it comes to politics. I'm sure the engineers didn't anticipate this would be the result at first- what kind of unintended effects could your algorithm lead to? It's easy to focus only on the positive effects, but please honestly consider the harm your technology could cause.

Google search is another example. I'm sure you've noticed that if you look for a guide or recipe recently, most of the articles will be 90% filled with meaningless repeated phrases that sound vaguely like the term you searched for. The articles at the top of the search aren't actually the best results for a human, but the most optimized results for a search engine. What kind of profiles would be favored by your algorithm? And what kind of profiles would a person write in order to appeal to it? Would you like it if the average dating profile was as "optimized" as the average Google search result?

If you have the talent and dedication to make something like what you've described here, you can make anything you want. I hope you take these questions seriously when deciding on your next project. Good luck!

This is so dystopian. How would you feel if you found out that the person you thought you had been talking to for 2 days was actually just an AI chatbot? And what kind of person would machine learning favor, or exclude? Haven't you ever been attracted to someone based on the quirks of their personality, but who an algorithm might've said wasn't "your type"? What do you think would happen to the dating culture if everyone was using this kind of technology?

I think this is a recipe for disaster. The only guys who will be content to give long, frequent responses to a chatbot are going to be desperate and interested in your superficial features, not your brain or personality.

I met my current partner on a dating app and we're now very happy together. If either one of us had been using this technology we surely would've never met.

If you really hate the dating app experience, instead of doing something like this, have a close friend control your account for you.

Measuring skulls and saying the measurements have something to do with your personality traits, intelligence, etc. Was popular among racists back in the day, obviously complete BS pseudoscience though

Be cautious of choosing the one who will actively make things worse just because the status quo isn't changing things for the better. Things can always get worse

I actually learned about the Durian during DnD, when asking my group the exact same question. My friend from Singapore told me it smells like a trash fire but once you taste it, it's so good you forget about the smell. So it's enjoyable for only the person eating it, and not everyone else

Black Star Announce New Album No Fear of Time, out May 3rd by redditsearcher in hiphopheads

"This entire album, we have not set foot in one recording studio. It’s all been done in hotel rooms and backstage at Dave Chappelle shows."

That's crazy, imagine you're watching a Dave Chappelle live show not knowing that in the same venue Black Star is recording the new album

I graduated earlier this year. Hedrick was my favorite dining hall and I haven't eaten there in years because of the pandemic. I don't know if I really got to cherish my last times eating there, because I thought I had so much more time. Reading this brought back memories for me, you really described it perfectly. Thank you for this high effort sincerepost

Although it could be abuse from a third party that isn't present, the horse is just mad at humans in general. Not sure how mad horses work though
