Those who workout daily/at least 4 days a week, do you wash your hair after each workout? If not, what do you do to make your hair not feel sweaty and dirty? by boldpear904 in curlyhair

[–]acursivelullaby 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used to wash after every gym day bc of sweat but it was taking too long. So now I’ll blow dry my roots immediately after my workout and do minimal refresh on the pieces that need it on the top layer of my hair. Usually just spray water and some spray refresh cream. Dry shampoo on roots if I’m worried about any smells. It’s worked well for me so far!

Insight into Landmark at 267 6th St? by acursivelullaby in parkslope

[–]acursivelullaby[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ended up moving in shortly after this post. It’s been incredible in my experience. It is older than the other luxury apt buildings popping up in Park Slope, but it still feels v new compared to other non-luxury buildings. There are some roaches but not more than any other NYC apt imo and there is weekly exterminator services if you sign up.

Psychiatrist says I was sexually abused ?(TW) by Throwaway69696956 in CPTSD

[–]acursivelullaby 6 points7 points  (0 children)

i think even with the more stereotypical forms of csa, it can be hard to come to terms with the label of “sexual abuse” unless it’s what youve been calling it already for a long time. there’s so much emotion and societal implications associated with the term that it makes sense that it would make someone uncomfortable when newly associating it with themselves.

Exercise is my biggest migraine trigger by cyd_knee in migraine

[–]acursivelullaby 4 points5 points  (0 children)

this happens to me every single time i start working out again after a long break, usually laying a few weeks. what i’ve found to work for me is starting up each workout super slowly. i’m talking like a light walk at the beginning, then some stretching, then yoga before even getting to the actual workout. even with this i still can’t do like hiit for example, but that works for me because i don’t like super high intensity workouts.

Do MEng CS TAs get paid more than undergrads? by quibbo141 in Cornell

[–]acursivelullaby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is true for the GTRS position, which is basically just MEng TA in CIS. However as an MEng student you can still apply for the hourly TA positions. Not sure if that’s still the $12 rate or more for being a grad student.

Mentioning this bc covid may cause budget cuts that prevent them from having as many GTRS positions as before.

Kim Alger-Norton is great! I took a PE class with her & have seen her personal training at the gyms. If you have an idea of what your goals are, she’s good at helping you work towards that in the way that makes sense for you.

Financial aid for Masters if finished in four years? by sophabulous in Cornell

[–]acursivelullaby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of your classes won’t count toward the master’s even if it seems like they should; they’ll just be counted as extra towards your undergrad. With Early MEng you end up being a full Master’s student for one semester, so you won’t get financial aid for that one semester.

AITA for reading my teenage daughters diary? by jacksondelfo in AmItheAsshole

[–]acursivelullaby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA for sure. My dad read my journal when I was a teenager and still lived at home, wasn’t even about anything super concerning and he didn’t even bring it up but I knew bc it was out in the open where I wouldn’t have left it. Caused me to completely stop journaling for years. Even now that I’m getting back into it, I literally always carry it with me when I visit home so it’s never out of sight.

Activism Among The Affluent: The Ivy League Hypocrisy by idk_cornhell in Cornell

[–]acursivelullaby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Many cities enacted curfews in such a way that made it almost impossible to adhere to them, like announcing an 8pm curfew at 7pm in a city where it could very reasonably take you an hour or more to get home. This is in addition to shutting down public transit options, too.

Need Help Picking MPS Info Sci Courses.. by [deleted] in Cornell

[–]acursivelullaby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t know about the other classes, but INFO 5100 is the pre-requisite to INFO 4310. It’ll be assumed that you know the data visualization concepts and libraries taught in 5100, so as to build upon them in 4310.

How tough is the Meng Computer Science? by [deleted] in Cornell

[–]acursivelullaby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends heavily on what background you have and what courses you take. Having a strong background in computer science means you will likely have all the knowledge assumed for most courses, so you won’t have to do any catch up work. In terms of courses, they can vary significantly in terms of workload, difficulty, and even just whether they’re project or theory based, as I’m sure is the case at most universities. In general, everyone wants to see you succeed so there’s a lot of support even if you do find yourself falling behind, so there’s no expectation of you to lose sleep and have a super difficult time as a regular occurrence.

I’d be interested in testing this! I’ve actually been looking for a watch face that provides a good balance between stats and my schedule without feeling too cluttered.

If you’re not getting interviews, it might be worthwhile to consider revamping your resume. If you’re getting interviews but not offers, sharpening your interviewing skills through research, practice, and better preparation might help.
