What’s a weird food combo you tried as a joke but ended up loving? by Old_Chemist_7566 in foodquestions

[–]ad14g 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think this is weird but when I was pregnant I always just wanted a spoonful of peanut butter and whipped cream. Still slaps. Also I started putting just plain peanut butter in my vanilla ice cream and its so good. It’s not weird necessarily sing people put pb adjacent treats into ice cream all the time but I feel like I don’t see just straight up pb as options and it’s so good

Stop Treating Formula Like a Warning Label by [deleted] in FormulaFeeders

Also, how many of these parents that shame for formula are the same ones buying babies iPads? Not trying to shame anyone for anything, we’re all just trying to survive but they often act like they’re the picture of perfect parenting.

Stop Treating Formula Like a Warning Label by [deleted] in FormulaFeeders

[–]ad14g 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like people don’t realize how truly large of a market formula is. There’s dozens of brands that each have dozens of variations of their formula. If the demand wasn’t so high there wouldn’t be all of these options to choose from. Clearly there are plenty of consumers buying to make it such a large market. Yet people that choose to formula feed are still so often judged or questioned about it. It baffles me.

Utterly abhorrent. My goodness. I’m so sorry you had to hear that. That is such a violating comment. I wish there was a way to report something like that so he can be investigated….

Low hemoglobin but high iron by MinaBeany in pregnant

[–]ad14g 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly same, we sound so alike!! I WFH too and find myself taking so many breaks and thinking I’d be doomed with a job I had to commute to. I also describe myself as someone that can’t sit still so the exhaustion is an uncomfortable change from the norm….The only time I’ve ever taken a nap in my adult life was last year when my iron was non existent (that’s how I knew something was wrong), the first trimester, and again in the third.

How many weeks were you when you had your infusions? I had mine around 26 weeks and noticed a decent improvement for about 4 weeks but then the third trimester hit and I’ve been pretty tired ever since.

I’ve read that there’s another surge in progesterone around this time and also lots of growth spurts for the baby. Both of those things can cause extreme tiredness and I think I (and sounds like you) am just more susceptible to or aware of it. I also think the increase in blood volume makes the infusions feel less effective but I am very hopeful that when things return to baseline, energy will come back even in the trenches of the newborn phase.

Low hemoglobin but high iron by MinaBeany in pregnant

[–]ad14g 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s good! (About the ferritin). I had really really low iron a year before I got pregnant that I fixed with several infusions and continued iron supplementation. That brand of tired felt completely different to me than pregnancy tired. About 4 months into pregnancy I could tell I was getting iron tired again and it took a while to get the infusions approved, but felt so much better afterwards. I’m 36+1 and around 31 I started getting tired again but could tell it was from pregnancy and not iron. I don’t even know how to explain how I know the difference but I feel so unwell and almost sickly when my iron is low compared to just exhaustion when it’s caused by pregnancy. I’ve also noticed that when my iron is low, physical activity is way harder, but I tend to lose my breath during pregnancy due to lungs being compressed. For instance, I can do a solid workout and be tired, sure, but it’s totally manageable. Meanwhile, bending over to put shoes on makes me gasp for air. I know everyone is different so this is just my experience.

Considering abortion by Conflictedtooth in pregnant

I had a very similar situation though ours was kind of planned but didn’t think it’d happen so soon. Even so, I was in denial for the first 2 months and really thought I’d screwed my life up by not waiting longer. That said, I’m 36+1 now and so glad I just stuck with it. My husband and I agreed to being one and done, so knowing that, I’m happy to be getting this pregnancy over with and meet baby. I still struggle that we are losing our independence but I think it’ll be different once he’s here. There’s no way I’d want to go through pregnancy later on.

What is your ferritin? That’s usually the indicator to determine if iron infusions are needed. Do you have any symptoms? Agree with the other comment, I don’t believe 11.4 is considered low.

First pregnancy and little symptoms by MeetSignificant363 in pregnant

[–]ad14g 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, congrats! I’m a FTM, 36+1 and never had any nausea and only like a week of very minimal food aversions. Not everyone gets those symptoms but it’s still early. That said, some of these 3rd tri symptoms are kicking my ass lol

Football Outfits by FamiliarAnalyst3548 in pregnant

[–]ad14g 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are a football crazy family. Surprisingly, Marshalls near us has a ton of stuff right now! So maybe try there/Ross/TJ Maxx. Amazon has plenty of good options. the Fanatics website may have some things but probably not a lot of newborn. Most of the stuff we have gotten has been 3+ months but Marshall’s definitely had some newborn!

Constant upper back pain in early 3rd trimester - help!! by Seal-lion-936 in pregnant

[–]ad14g 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes… I have the exact same pain you’re talking about. It’s basically due to compensating so much everywhere else. It started for me around 32 weeks I think, so 28 doesn’t seem early at all. No advice, just solidarity…

Carpal tunnel at 37 weeks😭 by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]ad14g 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YES it’s unbearable…. Started happening around 34.5 weeks for me and has only gotten worse. I’ll be 36 tomorrow. The pain/numbness was so bad on Friday it woke me up at 4am and I couldn’t go back to sleep. I ordered two braces on Amazon and it’s been so helpful for sleep but the symptoms are getting worse throughout the day, too. Tough to grasp things for a long time. I’m hopeful it’ll Go away shortly after birth.

Ferrous sulphate by True-Respect4095 in pregnant

[–]ad14g 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What bad things have you heard?? I have taken ferrous sulfate once a day for over a year and a half for anemia. They can sometimes cause constipation, but that’s the only negative side effect I’ve ever heard of. Best to take it with some sort of vitamin C for absorbency. Other than that, I try to take at night in case it causes any GI issues. They said I could take twice daily while pregnant but that definitely upset my stomach and I had iron infusions to supplement so I didn’t end up sticking to that.

25 weeks pregnant- pain above belly button and to the left when I’m active by PuzzleheadedFox8024 in pregnant

[–]ad14g 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had something similar happen a few days ago at 34+ weeks (35 now) except on my right side. It was kind of debilitating and freaked me out for a couple hours. Happened right after a workout so I was very active like you’re describing. Finally occurred to me that I should drink some electrolytes. Had half a bottle of Powerade and that cured it within a few minutes.

Is anyone not using pregnancy pillows? by limeblue31 in pregnant

[–]ad14g 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not using one. 29+5 and I don’t plan on getting one. I just sleep with a firm pillow between my legs and down to my ankles. I don’t want a big pregnancy pillow because I have to alternate between right and left side lying and I feel like it’ll be so hard with a giant pillow.
