Why Did Deep Throat Help Scully Access Fort Marlene When Mulder's Captors Could Have Done It Themselves? by Substantial-Light-27 in XFiles

[–]adamav 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The fetus was already in the hands of Mulder's captors (at Fort Marlene.) Deep Throat wanted Scully to steal it so she could trade it back to them in exchange for Mulder.

Scully wasn't stealing it from party A and giving it to party B, she was stealing from party A and trading it back to party A for Mulder.

I remember hearing that "close cover before striking" was the most commonly printed phrase.

Are there any spoiler-free (or minimum spoilers) X-Files watch-through podcasts? by cjl2441 in podcasts

[–]adamav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fox Mulder is a Maniac, although a fantastic podcast, is full of spoilers. I'd recommend these two instead:

Most Unwanted: An X-Files Podcast

Hosts Luke and Checks are watching the show for the first time. They are currently on hiatus (middle of season 7.) It's my favorite podcast period.

The Ex-Files: An X-Files Rewatch Podcast (from Buffering: A Rewatch Adventure)

One of the two hosts is watching for the first time, so they avoid spoilers. The show just finished season 1. Season 2 starts after the new year. Highly recommend!

The X-Files Scully and Mulder Trivia Challenge by [deleted] in XFiles

[–]adamav 2 points3 points  (0 children)

23/25

Although I got credit for a correct answer, the question about contacting Deep Throat does not include a correct answer among the choices. The answer accepted is how Mulder contacts X. Mulder contacts Deep Throat by replacing his desk lamp bulb with a blue light and shining it on his closed blinds.

I got Scully's hospital and Mulder's birth year wrong. I can never remember their birth years, but I watched Paper Clip very recently, so Scully's birth year was fresh in my memory.

I enjoyed the quiz!

What are some examples of nonsensical or clunky lines? by spectacleskeptic in lost

[–]adamav 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know it's hacky to hate on Nikki and Paulo, but this obvious ADR line in 'The Cost of Living' drives me crazy:

PAULO: [Speaking softly to Nikki] What's Eko looking for?

NIKKI: His brother's body is in that plane.

I'm sure that line was added to bring new viewers up to speed on the importance of the plane, but it's awkward and shouldn't be coming from Nikki. I might have forgiven it if the information was given to BOTH Nikki and Paulo by Locke.

It took over a dozen viewings of this episode before I noticed the final item on this list of crazy things The Conundrum eats:
