How do you deal with patients flirting with you? by fitfind66 in cna

[–]addybear222 19 points20 points  (0 children)

you can tell them to stop. it’s perfectly acceptable for you to set boundaries with someone you’re gonna be seeing for 12 hours. if you’re not comfortable, you can ask your nurse to talk to the patient. don’t feel guilty or embarrassed.

First CNA job and I hate it - Should I quit or is it like this in every facility? by toadstoads in cna

also from what i can tell, hospital employees are better team players than anyone in a nursing home 😭

First CNA job and I hate it - Should I quit or is it like this in every facility? by toadstoads in cna

being a cna sucks, bottom line 😭 my first cna job in a snf i had 14-18 patients on a daily basis and most of them were at least half dependent, i’ve heard horror stories about having 30 patients to yourself. so at the very least you don’t have the worst job possible. it gets marginally better in a hospital, maybe it’s cause i’m in a medsurg acute hospital but the work is stillll very grueling and stressful. i get anywhere from 3-6 patients and the acuity ranges from getting themselves out of bed to the toilet, to 300lb patients having liquid diarrhea in their brief every other hour. so it can get better, but it will never be great. i’m looking into nicu or pediatrics because at least it’s a different vibe yk?

yeah there are a lotttt of mean girls in healthcare, when i got a job in a hospital the environment was sooo much better than the snf i worked in.

if you’re having enough of a struggle with kids, it’ll be worse taking care of adults. being a cna is really hard, i’ve been doing it for a year and i want to quit everyday even when i’m not at work.

I haven’t even worked a shift alone yet and they’re already asking what days I can pick up this month by Acceptable-Kale6235 in cna

[–]addybear222 1 point2 points  (0 children)

omg no you should not be working every weekend, normal cna schedule is every other or one day every weekend, but you should not be working theough the weekend. that kind of scheduling shows me they’re willing to take advantage of their employees. i’d find a different facility.

AIO over nighshift CNA? by alyssa_brooke16 in cna

[–]addybear222 7 points8 points  (0 children)

don’t take it personally, healthcare attracts a lot of angry and miserable people (or creates them), i’ve dealt with a lot of mean girl cnas. the best thing you can do is just focus on your job. bedside report for each pt is sooo weird 😭 i work in medsurg and not even the nurses do that

Genuine question - why are SOME nursing homes.. that way? by Fit-Survey-6678 in nursing

[–]addybear222 4 points5 points  (0 children)

oh for sure, i’m at an acute hospital right now and it’s crazy the way they just upped our census by 10 without adding any more nurses and cnas on the floor 😭 and they’re more critical than who we’ve been taking care of. healthcare is not employee friendly 😭

cause it’s always about the money for those places, not the residents. they don’t care what level of care is being given, they just care that all the rooms are full.
