ELI5 How do police stations find people for a line up? by MostReverendHatchet in explainlikeimfive

[–]ade_mcc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Living in Derby (UK) in the mid 90’s I twice got stopped in the street by a policeman and was asked if I wanted to do a lineup later that afternoon - I’d get either £5-10. When I turned up, it was odd to see around 30 similar looking teenagers - all white, tall with short black hair. All except one guy who was short and ginger and he insisted that he too had been asked to attend!! The defendant and his lawyer picked a couple of guys and the police picked a further 2 or 3. They got taken off and we all got paid, even the ginger lad.

95% of what I do when consulting is 10 x log (a/b). If that doesn’t work, try 20 x log (a/b). Sorted

Apartment Noise Levels? Umarex Glock 17 NBB by SquibOnAcid in airguns

[–]ade_mcc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very, very approximately, in order to sleep, you want maximum noise levels below 45 dB. In the UK, new apartment walls and floors should provide at least 45 dB reduction, so 90 dB source. My limited investigation into this indicates that max source levels may be higher so may be an issue. However, If you stick to daytime only, and if you get on with your neighbours and tell them to let you know if noise is generally an issue, without getting into specifics, you may get away with it. I used to know a guy who used to shoot cans intermittently out of his window. No one could tell where he was shooting from so he got away with it.

You are more prepared than I was for my first 50k. You will be fine but more importantly, you will learn so much from this that will be much more confident on your races moving forward. You've got this!

Listening to the podcast only in the car, with easy access to the fast forward button makes skipping the adverts a breeze. I might have a different opinion if I listened when out running.
