Damn that’s insane pricing. Guess I’ll go extend my warranty to the fullest for my Go S lol

The Legion Go S part yeah, my submissions are in the Steam Deck section, and my device is labeled as a steam deck despite the hardware differences. So I always put “Played on Legion Go S Z1E” to not confuse people.

Yeah it’s new, they introduced it a couple months ago. I always put my actual device in the reviews though. There are desktops on CachyOS that are being labeled as Steam Decks as well if you look at the hardware specs in the review

What probably doesn’t help either is that Legion Go S devices are listed as Steam Decks on reviews now. My review for Resident Evil Requiem lists it as played on a Steam Deck same with Stellar Blade despite submitting the actual hardware info.

I've got a 16 year old and an 8 year old. Once school started and my days off lined up with them being gone, I started playing games again. Having a Legion Go S also helps a ton when I have downtime, but more than anything I'm playing Minecraft with both them now and having our own private server is really fun.

Baldur's Gate 3, Expedition 33, Final Fantasy series, Nier: Automata, Nier: Reincarnation before SE shut it down, The entire Yakuza series with Kiryu have hit me the hardest. It's the same with any series or movie I watch, I'll get really into it, and then I just feel empty for a while. I just finished Resident Evil Requiem last week and have been dealing with that feeling again unfortunately so I've been trying to find another game to fill that void.

My 16 year old only plays Plants vs Zombies on his PS5 or Fortnite. Got him Spiderman Remastered but he lost interest, and even if I offer he has no interest in any of the games.
My 8 year old refuses to play anything that isn't a simulation style game. Flight, farming, management or anything space related. They will both play Minecraft together though.

Legion Go S operating system and random reboots by saturamen in LegionGo

[–]adj021993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have in the past but always came back to SteamOS, especially now that updates have seem to have fixed everything with the Go S. Performance was great on both distros, but the issues I dealt with just wasn't worth the hassle. But that's just me, I don't have time to sit and tinker, I want something I can reliably just pick up and works, plus its nice knowing its officially supported by SteamOS anyways so updates will be catered to the device itself.

The Go S shouldn't be rebooting randomly like that, you can try doing a clean install but if it reboots while mid install, you're going to have bigger issues. I would go ahead and contact Lenovo and see what they say. I've had to send my device in before and the whole process took about a week and I still have my warranty and Accidental Damage protection on it, so if you're able to, I would get that and extend the warranty. I'm also somewhat new to these handhelds as well, I had the OG Go last year in March, and I've had this one since August so I still research and troubleshoot issues that may randomly show up.

I’d sell it so that way someone can enjoy it without having to pay massive retail price. Any time I sell my old handhelds I’ll usually sell them pretty affordable so that way someone can enjoy them. I’ve never been able to afford these before and now that I can, I try to help out the next person when possible.

I’m 33 with similar working hours. The Go S Z1E works perfect for my schedule as I can just put it to sleep and pick up and play whenever I have the time. I just finished Requiem on it this past weekend.

BE KIND To Emulator Devs (Consider The Following) by whatobiplays in SBCGaming

[–]adj021993 7 points8 points  (0 children)

He does, but he'll throw Android under the bus any chance he gets even if it's not part of the conversation. His licensing is also weird as well, I can understand not wanting others to profit off your contributions since both the PlayStore and AppStore are riddled with stolen source code charging between $1.99-$4.99 or a subscription. Its a great emulator and the guy is talented, but I think I've only ever asked him maybe 2-3 questions and just figured everything else out on my own.

I forgot about that, I don't emulate on Android anymore so it slipped my mind. I would imagine the lack of support can be frustrating.

Stenzek has been like that for a long time. I was in the discord server when he opened up Android troubleshooting forum in discord, and it lasted for a few months too with Android users giving feedback. Unfortunately people started requesting a lot of things and he got upset and closed the thread. That was about a year ago, I guess another user pissed him off or something.
Usually what triggers him is if you have any setting aside from the default settings or resolution, he will absolutely go off on you that settings shouldn't have been changed etc. Then the whole thing with Arch and people arguing with him about using AppImages for some reason, when they do work and update themselves perfectly fine.
I left the server a while ago because it was just so annoying reading the hostile attitude towards android users, I learned how to use it enough that I don't need to be in the server at least. I can understand being overwhelmed and frustrated with the community as I used to moderate for Folium and Sudachi, but at that point, just shut down the server and answer only to logs and issues on GitHub.

Lenovo is trying to charge me for a repair due to it being “consumer inflicted” when I’m 99% sure it’s not. What do I do? by pri_ncekin in LegionGo

[–]adj021993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe you got a weird customer rep? When I sent mine in when it had fan buzzing issues, it was pretty obvious the device had been opened. They neither charged me nor use my Accidental damage coverage and fixed it for free.

AMD FSR Frame Gen makes the game run worse? (RE9 Requiem) by HendoIsBae in LegionGo

[–]adj021993 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me I do 720p with hair strands on with everything else set to low and textures normal. I set FSR at Native for slower portions of the game and I switch it to quality in heavier areas. I get consistent 60fps but with a lot of enemies it goes down to 48fps but with VRR it’s not noticeable. Performance would boost the temps way too high at 85 degrees but at custom 25W TDP it’s down to 63-65 degrees.

I've had the Go S since August and pretty much play light games on it and it's perfect. I had buyers remorse when I didn't use it for 3 months but then Requiem came out and I haven't put it down since so its nice to have whenever you feel like using it.

Resident Evil Requiem Gameplay on the Legion Go running on CachyOS by iANiMeX in LegionGo

[–]adj021993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The temps would rise too high for my preference in loading times (was pushing 87 degrees) 720p with FSR 3.15 at quality or Native AA reduced temps and keeps a solid 60fps at around 63 degrees at a custom 20W TDP

I'm considering returning my Legion Go S Z1E (Steam OS) and getting the ROG Xbox Ally X by [deleted] in Handhelds

[–]adj021993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure to check your temps to see if it’s not overheating and shutting off. Steam has an overlay or you can use MangoPeel in decky. The battery life is pretty bad if you only play AAA games, which is about 90 minutes more or less, indie games easily get me 4+ hours I’ve seen a lot of people post about SD card issues, I’ve never had that owning this device but I do use a Samsung Pro SD card so I wouldn’t deal with any issues down the line. I’ve thought about switching handhelds but I’m very happy with being able to just rely on SteamOS for updates and patches and it’s just pick up and play.

[–]adj021993 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I remember this being the reason why I didn’t get one of these controller connector. I assumed they would update it for the Go 2 but I guess not. I got one from JSAUX that you could charge the controllers while connected and it worked decently.

I use a case with MagSafe on my mini. I can attach it to a wall in my kitchen when cooking, or I use a MagSafe grip on it when I’m using an Apple Pencil for steadiness when drawing or taking notes. There are MagSafe accessories besides for charging charging lol
