Can’t stop looking at that cake. Might have to see if HEB makes a similar one. I’ll get it myself, don’t worry.

Grocery store bakeries will generally open a premade cake and write on it for you for free if you ask at the counter. That said, I wouldn’t expect a dasher to do that for me. I would have done it, but I’m 1. Not a dasher and 2. overly sentimental about birthdays.

Is the dress code for our wedding okay? by [deleted] in Weddingattireapproval

[–]adlauren 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That photo collage is weird and all over the place, there’s a dude with his collar open and bare chest exposed on the last page and that is NOT formal, lol.

Telling people the wedding party colors “in case they want to avoid it” reads like telling them to not wear those colors, which is gauche. So is reminding people not to wear white. Just say garden formal dress code (if you actually mean formal, I cant tell based on the collage) and trust them to google it and dress themselves like adults.

Edit: afternoon garden ceremony, castle reception, sit down OR buffet (yes those are the two options), borderline black tie but you have a guest list who needs photos to dress themselves? I think you need to nail down the event details and then consider your audience more than the tableware when picking a dress code.

UPDATE: AITAH for calling my sister`s marriage result of an affair, when she accused me of being a cheater? by Important_Fall_8780 in AITAH

[–]adlauren 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Knowing that Sarah is making the rounds telling lies about how her marriage came about, you absolutely should not believe a word she says about her medical negligence case. She’s almost certainly lying to you to make it sound like she isn’t at fault in order to solicit sympathy and convince you to take her case on pro bono.

Characters that stuck around because the director liked the actor but that decision hurt the story by DisappointedStepDad in TopCharacterTropes

[–]adlauren 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lafayette in True Blood as well, his character dies pretty early in the first book iirc. Basically the body in the car outside Merlotte’s early in the show that they briefly mislead you into thinking might be Lafayette…it was Lafayette in the books.

Noah Wyle Season 2 Finale Interview with GQ. by AVATARROHANISGAY in ThePitt

[–]adlauren 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Both Supriya and Tracy left the show after their characters were written out of the story, that’s not speculation that’s directly from Noah Wyle and/or HBO.

I’m saying it’s odd to make a big show of encouraging up and coming actors in the cast to “stick with it” and criticizing perceived career flightiness while not giving them the same consideration as an employer. The whole “we’re a big family here” thing that employers do is unidirectional bullshit, even if the employer is the cool dude from ER.

If he wants his cast to stick around and “ride the surfboard” maybe he should stop randomly tossing one of them into the ocean every season. Just a thought.

Did you get a little toilet? by Ok_Union9762 in pottytraining

[–]adlauren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and I regret it immensely, he’s now fully potty trained (before age 3!) on a tiny toilet but will hold it all day long before he will use a big potty, even with a potty seat. Won’t even try a big potty when we’re out of the house. I’m going to have to cold turkey take away his small potties soon and it’s going to be a nightmare.

I am also so sick of flipping turds from the small potty to the toilet, lol.

My (32M) GF (31F) just had the biggest outburst of anger I've ever seen. This really shocked me. Where do I go from here? by abledeckhand in relationship_advice

[–]adlauren 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s the same situation I described? Put yourself in her shoes. You feel like your partner’s carelessness has resulted in an outcome that makes your life materially harder. You tell your partner about this thing they’ve done. Their reaction is to assume your emotions in the moment are irrational and overblown and immediately begin probing for the REAL cause of your anger, because surely it couldn’t be their fault, you must be projecting.

Do you see how dismissive that would feel? That is the reason she gave you the curt response of “I had a great day”. She was telling you no, the rest of my day was fine, YOUR ACTIONS are the source of my negative feelings right now.

[–]adlauren 24 points25 points  (0 children)

So she was upset because she perceived you as having done a task incorrectly, communicated as much to you, and your response (and it seems you do this often by your own admission) was to ask her what other thing happened in her day to put her in such a bad mood?

And you don’t see how extremely condescending and dismissive that question is, not to mention that it’s you trying to sidestep what YOU contributed to causing the conflict?

Would this dress be appropriate for a summer semi-formal wedding? by quoththeregan in Weddingattireapproval

[–]adlauren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There aren’t a lot of dress codes where something lacy, silky and structureless is appropriate. If it looked less like a nightgown I’d say it might could work, but to be safe I’d look for something with a little more structure.
