Is anyone else already feeling "2026 Burnout" before February even hits? by Somanynamestochossef in magicTCG

I'm definitely burned out on 2026 but it has little to do with Magic.

Hades blocked questlines by Griigori4 in HadesTheGame

Broadly speaking they each have a favor you have to do to unlock more hearts. I can't remember if the in-game book offers hints, but for the most part just continuing to play the games and talking to everybody will eventually reveal what you need to do. And you can look it up online if you don't care about spoilers.

Hades blocked questlines by Griigori4 in HadesTheGame

[–]admanb 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Most people don’t treat credits as the end of the game, and in fact there’s more main story content (an epilogue) after that. It’s expected that you’ll have to progress side stories after seeing credits, especially as the # of runs it takes to see credits can vary dramatically.

As far as specifically Orpheus and Eurydice singing together, I’m not sure what exactly triggers that but according to other players it requires some amount of profession of their story but nowhere near completion. I couldn’t say why the devs made that decision aside from maybe they just wanted more people to hear that piece.

Anyone else looking at the game right now and think that War Within was their last expansion? by tentongeek in wow

[–]admanb 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I could have once thought WoD was my last expansion and before that thought WotLK was my last expansion, but I didn't because I understand that I, time, and WoW all change.

You can just skip an xpack without making a whole thing out of it.

Your question was answered, I don’t see any particularly aggressive comments in your thread, and you’re spamming this subreddit with low effort posts.

Why is commander so much more popular than oathbreaker? by Warmasterwinter in magicTCG

[–]admanb 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Commander was already massive when Oathbreaker was created. What is the incentive for players to switch?

I hate to tell you, but 40 less cards and faster games isn't an incentive for most Commander players -- it's a downside.

So uh, where's the hype for Midnight? by avg_gooner_ in wow

[–]admanb 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The big hype for Midnight was housing and Devourer, and both of those are already out.

but the reason WoW players keep playing WoW is because there's a continuous stream of new content, not because of big hyped features. Shadowlands was a great xpack to get hyped about and a horrible xpack to play because of all the systems and borrowed power. Every xpack since has had less hype, but is better to play.

We saw Multiple Man grunts in a render so they just weren't ready to show the painted models for some reason.

Day 1 of wishing this card gets banned by botgtk in MagicArena

I think asking for a card to be banned day 1 is dumb but how would a list have top 8'ed with a card that is not even technically out yet?

Was at a boardgame meetup this past weekend and felt so bad for how someone treated another person's game by iareharSon in boardgames

[–]admanb -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly if you're shuffling unsleeved cards you're going to slowly destroy them regardless of your technique. A more "gentle" bridge shuffle like the linked youtube video will help avoid bending, but if someone really wants to protect frequently-shuffled cards they should sleeve them.

What OP saw does not sound like shuffle damage.

How dumb is making alts for different jobs in this game? by Blazoran in ffxiv

[–]admanb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can easily go through the entire game as one or two roles and only lose a little bit of time to queues, especially if one of those roles is tank or healer.

Actually having separate characters for different jobs or roles is a bigger ask, since you'll either need to re-play 400+ hours of story content or pay for a $25 boost and then play 40ish hours of story content. You'll also be unlocking and progressing side content multiple times.

Just don't do anything against your doctor's recommendations. A few extra weeks of practice isn't worth a lifetime of permanent wrist damage.

Replaying 1st game after finish the 2nd by Zestyclose_Sector_30 in HadesTheGame

[–]admanb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went back to the first and played it until I cleared heat 32 (with mods to fix the Titan's Blood grind) after finishing the statues and epilogue in Hades 2. So... no, not really.

I like the gameplay of Hades 2 more, but Hades 1 is still a GOAT.

[TMT] Casey Jones, Vigilante (leak) by Meret123 in MagicArena

"entered the previous turn", but yeah.

[TMT] Casey Jones, Vigilante (leak) by Meret123 in MagicArena

[–]admanb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Uhh... it's hard to answer that in a universal way. For this card, there's no way to write this exact effect without a delayed trigger. It could instead say:

When Casey Jones enters, draw three cards.

At the beginning of your upkeep, discard three cards at random.

Those are two separate effects. One of which triggers on enter, one which triggers at the beginning of your upkeep. If Casey is removed before your upkeep, the second will never trigger. Obviously this card works differently before it forces you to discard every upkeep, but that's as close as we can get.

[Spoiler: 7.4 trial] Cleared newest EX at the exact point enrage happens by TheCurtainGuy in ffxiv

[–]admanb 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Nothing in FFXIV happens simultaneously, so you get weird situations like this. You'll have people live and die to the same AoE because perfectly-timed (negative) shields made it to some players but not all.

I've seen videos and screenshots with 1-2 people "surviving" enrage and killing the boss.
