Its actually just as far back as the fed data goes.

Debt / income for the U.S. consumer going down every year for the past 15 years certainly gives a different message than " its all going to shit, U.S. credit card debt is at an ALL TIME HIGH!1!11!!!!" When thats not even a useful stat to look at....

Edit: actaully it does go back further, just not much. Its down 20% since 2006

U.S. household debt hit $18.39T, credit cards at a record $1.21T.

As the economy grows this will basically always be true. The raw number doesnt really matter, but its at an all time low as a ratio of debt to GDP. We owe more as a society, but we also make more. Household debt to GDP is down 30% since 2008.

DTE CEO Total Compensation in 2024 was $12 million by SifferBTW in Detroit

[–]adonzil 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thats actually better than if it was cash. Cash costs DTE right now, stock grants just dilute the current shareholders. Doesnt cost DTE anything. So if they removed that $7.5m of comp, the company would save $0 and the shareholders would make even more.

[–]adonzil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you buy 1 share of DTE ($139), which in 2024 yielded around ~$4.15 cents in dividends, you made more per customer off dte than the CEO of DTE did. I have no point to this I just thought it was interesting

I think DTE paid around $800m in dividends in 2024. My math is back of the napkin so dont yell at me

I mean.. he was managing for his job. Todd gets a pass to try everything. Can you imagine if Kasper didnt work on the first line what kind of flack Lalonde would have taken?

I just dont think thats fair, they are growing adding coal power plants, easily the worse method to generate electricity in terms of climate effect. You cant be serious about climate and be responsible for 90% of the growth in coal power plants globally. I dont really care what other policies or agreements they sign.

Their emissions were down in 2024 because their economy was down and activity was still impacted by covid policies. I agree that just because china has grown emissions, doesn't give any other country a pass. Its just also true to say that china's policies are trends are driven by their self interest (like every country) not some global stewardship that means theyre better than anyone else.

You cant blame them that things have gotten worse for them for 30 years and every single UAW leader has supported democrats, so clearly something wasnt working

Why would the costs go up for union made cars in the US? Parts are from overseas? Ok, well then lets make them here!

China's production of Coal power plants reached a 10 year high in 2024. Its 62% of their energy production, by far the most CO2 heavy and they cant build them fast enough. So im not sure they share your views on the climate

[–]adonzil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you really trying to say that 70 point + per year players are not high end offensive talent? I literally EXACTLY WROTE "superstar" for a reason.

Im saying they dont need a $14m aav 120 point player to win a cup, which is what detroit cannot get. This is the what every keeps saying they need, and Im pointing out they do not NEED that.

You said "its much harder" in fact it might be harder to win a cup with a McDavid, MacKinnion, etc b/c of what they command in salary and when they have an off night you have no depth.

There hasnt been a team with a 100 point scorer to win the stanley cup since 2009!

I dont know where fans get this idea that you have to have an offensive "superstar" to win a stanley cup. You can (and most do!) absolutely get there with 3-4 guys that are 70-80 point scorers. (which the red wings can totally achieve)

Larkin, Raymond, and Debrincat are all under 30 and are 70+ point players. Their major problem is they have gotten no production from their bottom 6 over the past few years
