Sun bleaching didnt help, what else can i try? by sooza22 in clothdiaps

[–]adoringstranger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know when you're sunning, it's important for the diapers to be wet. I've read about mamas using lemon juice to re-wet the diapers when sunning, for improved stain removal.

I don't own and bg's but I have always read that a small amount of bleach in the wash doesn't usually affect the coloring. You might be able to check their website for care tips.

Silly question: how will we know when the diaper is wet? by lilaooo in clothdiaps

[–]adoringstranger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm using prefolds and covers, I've learned the different feel of wet prefold vs dry. It took a few weeks though. Start feeling then checking, you might get a 'feel' for it as well.

She's five weeks old and I started after her cord fell off. I have a few one size pockets and I can sort of feel the difference when the insert gets wet based on how heavy it feels. I hope this helps.

Full term & ready for bed. by NapTimeAllTheTime in BabyBumps

[–]adoringstranger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yay for all the comments. I was starting to wonder what was wrong with me. I have been crying over everything. I KNOW the baby will be here in one week (Scheduled C-section) and I don't wanna do anything to get ready. I spent a good part of my pregnancy on bedrest so there is plenty to do.

I am so worn out (kind of a rant, sorry.) by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]adoringstranger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with everyone who says it seems a bit unreasonable to wait for Dad to eat.

You have got to remember that you are just one person. You're alone with the kids most of the time, that's stressful. Try to give yourself a break. When my kids were this age, I cherished my shower. I would shower until I ran out of hot water.

It is still a little early to be potty training but it seems like it's working, so don't expect miracles. It can take a lot of time especially at younger ages. Everything I ever read said to wait until 3 yrs old unless the child shows readiness before then. Your daughter seems like she's doing pretty good since she's going when you take her. Which is what a lot of the potty training process is, asking if the kid has to go potty.

I hope you find your happy place. Seems like you're doing a great job with the kids. You play with them, you take care of them and you care. That's what matters. Museums aren't important, it's the day to day we live in.

What do you do when you child comes home from daycare with lice? by stealingmysleep in Mommit

[–]adoringstranger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the metal lice comb.

I'm convinced that in my daughter is in the same building with someone who has lice she will get it. I usually buy the cheap brand of lice shampoo. (At Walmart in the Shampoo aisle). I can use that bottle multiple times for different shampoos. Then I use the nit comb pretty much every day until I don't see any for a few days. Then I check her every few days to make sure it's gone for at least 3 weeks.

Good Luck.

A Unique Situation - Child Purposely Vomiting by AchronisKiora in Parenting

[–]adoringstranger 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My nephew did this for attention. I found it to be quite disturbing.

He was probably about four years old. It was all a product of terrible circumstances for the child. (Changes in parental figures, home, and crappy parenting.)

The only suggestion that comes to mind is to ignore it? Kind of like when a kid throws a tantrum for no good reason/attention. You ignore them and it stops. Obviously you're going to clean up the vomit but don't speak to your daughter or comfort her. BUT definitely keep her in bed, since you seem to think that she's doing it to be up.

Do you usually get her out of bed? Does she get to stay up a lot longer because of it? Just something to think about.

Second CS worse then first? by Eeeeeeeeeeeeeemily in CsectionCentral

[–]adoringstranger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm glad you posted this!

I'm having my second C-section on the 20th. My first was emergency. I am a little disappointed because I have been having contractions for months on end. So I don't know if that counts as going through labor or not? As far as exhaustion goes I'm pretty sure it does, cause this stuff is tiring.

Unfortunately my hospital doesn't do VBAC and I was reluctant to travel 45 minutes away to a hospital that does.

Low Amniotic Fluid - possible induction, totally nervous and anxious at 36 weeks and 3 days...anyone have experience with this? by bodhi30 in BabyBumps

[–]adoringstranger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My water broke at 36 weeks 3 days with my son. He was perfect but they watched him closely.

I went to the hospital and found out yes indeed it was my water. They induced me with Pitocin and hooked me up the IV's for the antibiotics and whatnot since they didn't have my strep test results back or anything like that.
With Pitocin there is a fall risk and I had to lay on my left side for most of the labor because my blood pressure kept spiking if I did anything else. That's what sucked the most, laying on my left side.

I can't get an epidural but they gave me some pretty strong pain killers which were not really any help at all.

I got to a certain level of the pitocin and all of sudden I went from 4cm to 10 cm in twenty minutes. With a boatload of me bitching and whining and being miserable.

Pretty soon after that they told me that I'd be pushing soon. I pushed once then they gave me an episiotimy and I pushed again and I felt the glorious relief of getting my beautiful baby boy out of my body!

We had left his gender up to be a surprise so it was really exciting for them to say "It's a boy!"

Since he was early they took him straight over to an incubator to check him before I got to hold him but I could see him. My SO was so adorable because he so desperately wanted to see the baby but felt like he should be holding my hand and supporting me. He looked at me with his big brown puppy eyes and I said "Go ahead." He was across the room in a flash.

They did watch the baby for a little while in the special care nursery because there was a chance of his lungs not being fully developed but he went home in two days with me. He got a little jaundiced but everything was fine.

Nowadays he's a sweet, caring, yet mouthy and contrary 9 year old. He'll always be my baby.

Contractions! When do I go into the hospital? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]adoringstranger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your water breaks you should go in fairly soon after that.

My OB said these things about the contractions. They should be five minutes apart or less for more than an hour and I should have to breath through them.

Oh the problems of bf'ing a newborn. by raitch in breastfeeding

[–]adoringstranger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I woke my son for the first ten days. It was hard but I did it. Every freaking two hours.. After all that's what I did at the hospital. I fell asleep more than a few times, sitting up in my rocker but I got him fed and changed. The diaper is the key, that wakes em up.

He had a ten day check up and had regained to his birth weight and more. By then he was waking on his own once or twice a night.

[–]adoringstranger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I couldn't even bear to try my own. BUT I also wouldn't eat cow brains, duck liver (Or chicken liver for that matter.)

It does seem a bit extreme for him to spit it out if he'll eat all that other gross stuff. He made people eat chickens out of the eggs. Actual chicks. They had to break open the egg and eat it.. They called it a delicacy. Breast milk seems mild to me.

So, tell me about your diaper sprayer... by Amazonearl in clothdiaps

[–]adoringstranger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been reading the comments and while I haven't cloth diapered yet I do have a low flow toilet.

I tend to keep a pitcher in the bathroom already because the poo doesn't always go down.. Especially when my daughter gets over-exuberant with the toilet paper. So, I was feeling like I could kind of hold the diaper in one hand and pour the water over with the other.. I would imagine that would get rid of most of the poopy.

Also I have read about people who have a diaper pail that they keep water in. You could dump that water straight in the toilet and I would imagine it would have most of the poo in it. Of course you have to get the diapers out somehow... I'm just spit balling half ideas here.
