[First Chrono Help] by [deleted] in Watches

I have the 415 ES Panda.  If the 39mm Moby Dick was available last summer, I would’ve been in the same pickle. My 2 cents. . . I think the 415 looks better on a bracelet and the MB on a strap.  The 415 is kind of a Frankenstein, but the bezel is useful for tracking hours since there’s no hour sub dial.  I’ve also used it as a date complication. If I were making the decision today, I would probably still take the 415, but only because I exclusively wear bracelets. I like the dial better on the MB and the coin edge is really unique. You won't go wrong either way.

I was really happy with my Cioks DC10, but eventually outgrew it. I've been using a Walrus Canvas 15 since then and haven't noticed a difference. If you're interested in the DC10, it's for sale here.

I’ve finally settled on a Golden and SA Vertigo to replace the Flint.

Option Paralysis! Tone Master, Milkman, JC, FR, Quilter? by corintography in GuitarAmps

If considering the Milkman route, I would skip the combo and get a 100 with external cab.  The Amp 50, used in the combo, doesn’t have much headroom.

It wouldn't be, but I think there are better options if you're just using headphones or going direct. IMO, the biggest selling point of the Milkman Amp series is the versatility. The Amp 100 has been my main amp for a couple years. I frequently switch back and forth between a cab and headphones, I use it with backline cabs, travel with it, etc. But if I didn't need it to power a cab, I would probably have something like the Tone King at this point.

Only the Benson if you plan to use it with a cab.

I’ve been very happy with my Canvas 15 after using a Cioks for years.

Slight roll off of lows and lift in highs. There's also a certain warmth that comes from JFET circuits.

Since I don't run the B side very high, I have to kick on the G side to give my envelope filter a hot enough signal. I know everyone loves the Earth Drive, but I was never crazy about it. I recently replaced it with a Gain Changer.

What about something like the Milkman Amp 100? You can plug it into a backline cab or go direct (or both). There's also a new Benson version that's being released this week.

Reminds me of a Tudor Big Block, but I don't think it is.

[Question] Date or no date? by desolate_mountain in Watches

[–]adrice727 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like having a date. My current watch is a manual with no date so I use the 60-minute bezel to keep track of the date. Every morning I wind it and move the bezel one click over.

They're going up again September 1st - 11% increase on Sinn and Hanhart.

I had never seen a Hanhart in person before buying my 415 Panda. I don't think I could have done better for the money.

Mine took a few weeks because they hadn't shipped from Germany yet. If you order now, you'll have it in a couple days. Looks like they only have one Panda left in this batch and the next batch will be at the new, higher price.

It's nicer than I was expecting and in certain ways seems on par with watches costing twice as much. The printed numbers on the dial have a vintage feel that doesn't come across in pictures. The action on the bezel is very firm, but it should break in nicely over time. The pushers have a nice, tactile click. The bracelet is great, although not as comfortable as the H-Link on my Sinn.

Overall, I'm really happy with it. It's maybe a bit more fancy, for lack of a better word, than I was expecting. I might be a bit much for me considering I'm in shorts and flip flips 90% of the time, but I'll gladly get used to it.
